I wrapped my interior trim pieces and mirrors in a carbon fiber wrap. All four door trim pieces were wrapped as well. $35 on Amazon.

Good job...my interior is factory carbon...I was going to buy wing mirrors... but looking at what you achieved... may try that...

Thank you. Being perfectly honest, there are a few blemishes but only I could see them and only if you view the mirrors from up close. They were the most difficult to wrap due to the compound curves. I could probably re-wrap them and get them perfect but as the saying goes, "Perfect is the enemy of good enough" so I'll leave them be. Nothing but compliments from people who see them!

I like the interior, but I think I'd prefer a glossier finish on the mirrors. Seems like it'd just look like matte plastic from further away. But good work, looks well done.

I think so too. But I wanted to keep it the same throughout and since it was my first shot, most of what I read said that gloss shows imperfections more than matte so that was my logic- keeping it easy. But I think I wil order some gloss finish just to play around with it.

Serviced my rear brakes. Jurid pads, ATE coated rotors & new wear sensor. Note the original BMW pads I took off were made by Jurid. It was really a pretty easy job.

Battery replaced

Installed new battery, direct replacement, $189 from AutoZone. One thing that is different - hole for vent hose if slightly large, had to use a tiny piece of electric tape to make it snug.

Don't you normally need to code the battery in to avoid problems? One of those silly BMW things

After a cold stretch here in Seattle my trusty 2011 X3 was having some trouble starting. It would always start eventually, but seemed to be struggling. Finally got a trickle charger and tested the main battery....yep, low voltage. Charged it up, and purring like a kitten again!

My X3 with N55 comes to the end of CPO warranty, so I decided to run Velvtronic test to check the condition (wife drives it so I am not sure if Velvtronic is used in full range).

First ran "Open global VTC limit position adaptation (ABL-DIT-AS1214_TVD_VVAL_RDDP)" - this thing finds lower point of resistance on the camshaft. Takes a few seconds, simple message "Limit positions successfully learnt.". You can hear it hit the limit quite clear (engine was off).

Thought it was not enough and next did "Valvetronic servomotor (ABL-DIT-T1214_TVD_VVMO2)" - this one makes you to start the engine, waits till catalytic is up to the temp, then starts moving Vavltronic in the full range every few seconds. Very clear sound on the move , and when it gets to min position engine almost chokes. Then it slowly moves the range. Mine was from 29° to 183° on the shaft. Hope it is normal. All takes about 3-4 minutes.

No faults after that, ECU is clean. I think I am in a good stand.

Oil change and air filter change today at 47k miles on our '17 35i. First service it's needed since the complimentary stuff ran out. My wife racks up the miles on this thing!

Yeah, wife's commute is 30 miles each way, four days a week. The X3 has been from PA to Central FL and back, and is the car we take whenever we go anywhere as a family. Adds up quickly.

...that's what a car is for-driving! I'm retired and put 15K and sometimes more miles on my car every year.
