Yeah that's for your benefit probably. They don't want this to have to come in before you're due for the next oil change because of brakes. But yeah it seems like every time I've got a car in there they're doing something to the brakes and I've never triggered a service warning on the car for anything brake related.

I have about 5000 mikes. I am hard on the brakes and that includes two track days, my fronts are about 11 mm, anyone know how thick the new pads are?

LOW PAD THICKNESS MEANS REPLACE YOUR BRAKES
Brake pads are made of metal shavings (copper, steel, graphite, and brass) bonded with resin, or copper flakes and filaments bonded with clay or porcelain. New pads have a standard thickness of about 10 and 12 millimeters, and the minimum pad thickness to retain safe braking ability is about 1 millimeter, but that doesn’t mean you should wait until then—pads should be replaced at around the 3-millimeter mark.

I agree, two PINS and the pads are out... super easy. I just have to remember to use my full sized floor jacks and not the ones for lowered cars. |

4700 miles on my comp, track day, drag day, and an 800 mile road trip in the mountains all within 14 days and I need new pads and rotors up front due to warping. Nuts! Just had it at the dealer today and they have the replacement rotors and pads in order. Pads are scarce, backordered from Germany. May not have them till mid to late October.

FYI, Yours were replaced due to a brake pulsation which is covered by warranty due to that is considered a defect.
Brake pads are actually not covered for wear anymore unfortunately unless you buy an upgraded maintenance package specifically for brakes. |
