35i Eco Mode
How much of an improvement can I expect (roughly) to see from making a long highway miles only drive (several hundred) cruising in eco-mode compared to normal? Trying to calculate fuel stops/pricing prior to the upcoming trip. Does eco on the highway make that much of a difference?

to conserve fuel on mostly highway driving, just drive the speed limit and make sure your tires are properly inflated, maybe a few pounds extra

Cruise control will maintain speed within some parameter, and where that causes FE to suffer is on slopes. Put simply you're best to slow down as you climb a hill, and then coast down it, at speeds beyond the parameters of cruise. BMW even labels this as a feature - "cruise control with brake" because the car will apply brakes to slow you down rather than coasting. Braking = wasted energy. This is where the "sailing" function comes in.

I just keep it in comfort now, unless having fun in sport. It does have advantages if you're trying to keep RPM low while the engines reaching temp but that's all it's good for in practice IMO
