Does anyone make different or custom emblem plates that replace the OEM X3 M on the front fender vents?

I am thinking the same thing you are . I actually removed all badges to do custom stuff ( fenders , front grille and rear badges ) . I am thinking of going down to a shop and doing vinyl replacements for all of them so I can go custom color combos .

I have a decal guy that can make pretty anything I want and has done great for my Corvette & my Jeeps. Wanted to see if there was anyting out there already before I contact him.

Fit an M40 trim which is thin and fills the hole.

My wife just doesn't want any chrome or silver on the vehicle. It's stupid they put chrome front grille & side emblems when everything else is black. I've already painted the front grille emblem. Just need to replace the sides.

Oh yeah I agree. I had the cerium as BMW calls it. A bit better than chrome but it was all removed and replaced with gloss black the day I took delivery 50 miles on the odometer.

Nope, it's just a big opening there. I need to eventually put them back. Tried the black X3 M40i inserts, but wasn't sure if it looked good.

Already tried that & it looked okay. But the solid black X3 M looks a touch better.

The Competition model solves all of this.

Ours is the Comp & it comes with chrome X3 M on the front grille, sides (as shown above) and the Competition badge on the rear is also chrome. I already painted the front grille emblem and am replacing the rear with a black Competition.

I think the grille and side fake vents are chrome by default and they are black if you get the extended shadow line option.

No those are what I have with the chrome X3 M, as shown in my first post. We have the extended shadow line M Comp and the front emblem is chrome, the side
emblem plate, and the rear "competition" all come chrome. The X3 M emblem on the rear is the only thing that come black unfortunately.

The grill surrounds & the side front fender surrounds are not chrome on the Competition models. But yes, the small X3 M letters are. Some people like dark black windows, smoked tail lights, smoked headlights & smoked emblems. But for me, I think having 1% chrome & the factory OEM letters / badges are okay. That's just me though...

Chrome is the equivalent to brass fixtures in a 1980s home. It should be eliminated and never used again .

Now that we've all established the vehicle comes with a bit of chrome badging, as I indicated in post #1, what I'm gathering is there's not a vendor out there that makes replacement emblem plate inserts for the fender vents

Guess I'll make my own.

So I decided to try and use the same X4M badge that is on the front grille and use them on the side vents. Had an extra when replaced kidney grilles with CF and then just purchased the badge which is sold separately. Sanded, primed, painted and then clearcoat. Hopefully will stay on— used 3M tape and adhesive promoter.
