Car emblem removal reason
When I was buying my car, the dealership had asked me if I wanted the emblems removed. I found this strange but then I noticed that where I live, a lot of people have them removed. Out of curiosity, has anyone opted for this? If so, what could be the reason?

Many reasons actually.
1. People just prefer a clean look in the rear. 2. M40i people dont want others to know its only a M40 and not a X3M. 3. X3m people dont want to stand out and have the sleeper look. Others would assume its a standard X3 or even a 30i. But they get surprised with 500hp SAV pulls from them. 4. Depending on the color combo people may not like the cerium, chrome, or black badges.

Or maybe to stop people stealing the badges?
Actually I've never understood the need to make X3 M40i look more sleeper/understated. I think it already looks too 'normal' anyway.

In my case; I just don't like badges on a car.. Just had them removed on every BMW I've owned.
What other people think of my car? I don't care |

At first I kept badges to have OEM look.
Afterwards I decided to remove them as the car looks more clean and there is no chrome addition on the back.. Now debadging all my cars. |

I prefer the clean look at the rear of the car and have always removed the badges. I feel it makes the car look smooth and highlights the lines of the body.

I have a phytonic blue X3 M40i and i ordered it debadged from the factory.
It's fast, subtle, and discrete. I'm not interested in showing off, i'm interested in how it drives, and being able to drive quickly without attracting attention is even better. If i wanted to show off i'd buy a bright and loud sports car and drive slowly where people can see me

there are a lot of badges removed where I live too, I only recently noticed this based on discussions on forums. Then I made notice of how little I actually normally look at badges. now I am in general just looking at who removed badges and in general its lower model cars a lot of 30's and almost no one in a X3M takes theirs off. But the worst is the few who put badges back on that are not their car, Like a malibu with S500 badging........ok yes I judge these people

What do you put in place of the badge? I notice my BMW badges sit in a small indented circle. Does it just look like paint color under there, and the sunken spot isn't noticeable?
So far, I've only had dealers remove DEALER badging and stickers/logos, but not the actual car insignias. |

I'm not sure if BMW put the badge on crooked on purpose, or if it was the crazy horsepower that knocked it askew I had an X5 loaner at the time which is a shame because having my X3MC in the photo next to it would have been priceless! |

Some like the stealth look. Others want their fast cars to be sleepers. Others want their slow cars to look fast.
