This is awesome. I just transferred my Bootmod 3 license from my M235 to the X3 M40.

Still working with bootmod3 to finalize everything and push maps.

Any updates on the 2020+ M40i maps? Bought BM3 along with a down pipe a while ago to run stage 2 but alas no maps! customer service offered me a refund but assured me the maps are coming soon, so I opted to keep the license and I'm itching to get it on there

Nothing from MHD. They were in BETA and now that the new software update is out that blocks DME unlock on 340i and M40i.

We are out of luck, they have been trying for past 3 and half months. And I was told by BM3 that if youre looking to have a tune done via OBD it is locked as well.

You can only send it in, at that point you might as well get a custom dyno tune from your local shop.

Got the same back from BM3 myself!
Options now - JB4? RaceChip?

I already have a B58 JB4 from my previous car - but install looks more difficult on the X3. Access through to the OBD via the firewall is very narrow and appears to be covered by a single use piece of foil rather than a rubber bung.

Adam X3M40i is leading the Development Maps and Pump Maps are ready. He's wrapping up the STG2 E30 this week and next.

Tons of logging over the past few months and dragy to prove its consistency

So does this mean the flash tuning either the 340i or X3 M40i won't be possible if those cars get the latest software update? I own both cars and am interested in flash tuning both. If that's the case then going with a piggyback tuner like JB4, Racechip, Dinan, etc. would be the only option, correct? Also, when did this latest software update come out from BMW and is it installed by dealerships when you bring your car in for service next?

I believe 19/11 (Nov 2019) software is what blocks out the DME.

Thanks. So is it safe to assume that if you have a flash tune that software updates like this might convert your tune back to stock and then block the dme so that it can't be reflashed?

Yes. If you update due to recall or a replaced module then it will wipe it back to stock and apply the newest software, which apparently locks the DME.

Okay so I'm a bit confused. Some saying flash is not happening and some saying its in the works?? What's the final word on this? It'd make my day to hear that stage 2 91 will be ready to flash soon!

Regarding software updates resetting and re-locking the DME, its a good thing iDrive 7 in the X3/X4 doesn't do remote updates!

Are you able to verify this is for the newest BMW software update that blocked the DME on the OBD flash?

You can find out if you have latest software that blocks OBD prior to flashing.
PM Adam X3M40i he will help you

I do have the latest software, and so do many of the M40i owners. So this is why they are unable to flash from MHD or BM3. So saying that BM3 is available is not fully applicable if its not open for the new software or for anyone getting the update in the near future.

This needs to be stated because a lot of people are getting their hopes up, incorrectly.

It's still available, all you have to do is ship out your ECU to Protuningfreaks in Toronto and they will unlock your ECU for OBD.

Many M40i owners also have compatible software like Adam
