£854 with Admiral, 15 years NCD protected, plus 2 additional drivers including my 78 year old father. Most of my quotes were £1000+ with Admiral being the cheapest for me... not helped by couple of SP30s from 2014! Live in NW London so impacted by recent increase in thefts in area.
Used the advice on here https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/car-insurance/ to get the cheapest quote.

I've had various recommendations from everyone here and I've decided on BMW Insurance for when my new car arrives later in the year (X3 M40i):
£64500 market value 10000 miles per year insured 3 drivers insured (35 years old primary driver) Business for me, SDLC for the other drivers £0 voluntary excess 11 years NCD Protected Motor Legal Protection and BMW breakdown cover Based in Edinburgh, Scotland With an overall yearly cost of £560 per year which is by far the cheapest of all the quotes I got so far.. |

£405 with Admiral multicar for M40i (10k p/a) and Mini JCW (7k p/a). Wife has 9 years NCD but I only have 1, as previously used wife’s NCD when we only had 1 car.

There are so many variables for car insurance that it’s difficult to do like for like comparisons on here, but my LV insurance ended up at £335.
2 drivers, social only, 7k miles. 3 years NCB as previously company car where car not driver is insured.

But surely if you didn’t take it, your premium would be even less?

Does anybody else use NFU mutual, far cheaper than any of the quotes here. Cheaper this year than last as they have a loyalty discount, for 2 years new for old if car stolen or written off, payment by instalments at no extra cost.

NFU, while highly rated, have some occupational exclusions, like mine as someone involved in magazine publishing, is one of them.

Sorry to revive an old post...
Anyone with bymiles.co.uk? Pay as you go insurance. Been with them for nearly a year. 1st when I purchased a 2011 M3 vert. All my standard insurance quotes were £1500+ even though I'm 40 and over 10yrs no claims. Living in Slough with a high car crime rate doesn't help. Came across by miles and they quoted me a £300 deposit. So this covers me for when the car is parked. If I then don't decide to drive it for the whole year I pay nothing more. If I do drive I pay £0.08p a mile! Which is charged to my debit card per month. Insurance is fully comp. and comes as standard with no claims protection with no extra charge. Business mileage included. And upto 4 changes per year to my policy with no extra charge. They send out a dongle which plugs into my obd port. I then also covered my 330e which was being quoted for £1000+ but with bymiles I pay £250 deposit and £0.06 a mile. Your mileage is capped at 150miles a day. Or 10000 miles a year. So if you drive more than 150miles a day you won't be charged anymore even if you do another 100 on top. I recommended a few friends and I got £50 credit per recommendation. 😁 and over Black Friday I got £100 credit for a recommendation. This is ideal if you have a second car to insure or like me you drive limited miles. Not exaggerating this is the cheapest insurance I've had in my 25years of driving! |
