You should try all the comparison sites and the ones that don’t get quoted like direct line. The same insurance company can quote me differently on different sites, so it’s must all be down to algorithms that the sites use.

Cheapest for me was on Confused.com.
I just tried Confused.com based on what you said, and I've got a quote from Admiral for £475, which is less than I'm paying now and massively less than their quote on Compare The Market. Think this might be the one...

Yeah for the UK. Not as bad as I was expecting. Been 7 years since I paid UK road tax.

Hi all
Just got my car at the weekend and insurance due in March. I am with Churchill and my renewal came through at £678 I have full no claims. Went on compare the market and got Admiral as the best price at £388 not a lot of difference. I phoned Churchill and asked if they could match it there reply was no, I already had all the discounts. Asked why I got 3 insurers quoting under £400 I was told they have had a lot claims for X3’s and Admiral must of had low amount of claims for them. Don’t know if I believe that or not.

Yes quite right if buying new there is a first year car tax based on co2 levels plus 20% Value added tax, I was just talking about ongoing road tax

Looking back I paid £830 for first year tax and nearly £8k Value added Tax so quite a lot but it all seems to get lost in purchase price

I wouldn’t it’s all about new business and hiking prices for people who can’t be bothered to switch every year.

There is no benefit in being loyal for insurance, energy, etc.

I 2012/3, used Admiral some years ago on a multi-car policy - a Mini, Mondeo, Mx5 and Clio all for £1100. Had to claim after the MX5 was damaged in a freak hail storm (£2,200 damage), renewal went to £1600. Politely said goodbye.

Problem with multi-car policies is you can add them at any time, but IME, they all expired on the same day, so you get a headache sorting several quotes/polices all over again if you dont like their quote.

It's also worth looking at the Top Cashback website, as some insurers will pay you £50 for a new policy. Come August, will be shopping around for a new insurer.

Thru broker cheapest quot 390 then few 400-450 and jumps to over 500+ on comparing sites.

Great news! I hadn’t run a quote on confused.com for a few days so I just refreshed prices and churchill’s quote has gone down by £102!

I tried BMW insurance and got that error and was asked to ring, so I thought I would, on hold for 30 minutes only to be told it was because I didn't have tracker fitted and they couldn't insure without one on a car of this value, I'd put down £48k

They ask Tracker/value question early on in quote, you think it would be smart enough to flag it up then?

Disappointing considering it is BMW insurance and most other companies insure without one

It appears that Aviva have stopped you being able to get a new quote if you’re already with them!!
My cheapest to date, is with Churchill’s via confused.com.

That's rubbish!!!

Admiral reduced their quote to match BMW. Loyalty discount / didn't want to lose custom etc. So just going to stay with Admiral. Saves the hassle of changing.

I got a good renewal offer in Feb from Admiral £560. I'm 34 living in the South West, clean license, 11 years NCB. However when I added the missus onto the policy (I finally gave in) they bumped it to over £800! She does have a couple of recent claims though so I was expecting it to go up.

Ended up with LVE who did the policy with her included for £610.

That's interesting to know as our insurance needs to be renewed at the end of this month. We pay £720 for two cars, no accidents with many years of no claims bonus.

My renewal from AXA came in gone upto £470 which they would only lower £50 so went with LV in the end, came in at £306, including full business use and European cover so quite happy with that

Whole insurance industry is a ripoff!!!!!!!!
Received renewal from sainsbury (LV underwriter) for £356 for X3.
Back in January lovely seat driver scraped whole my driver side on 3 series in car park(i wasn't in the car), all done by his insurance. I have informed my insurer and they said that i'm not making a claim on my own insurance no increase on premium.
On renewal they did not put this and when i contacted to clarify, it need to be added as non fault accident and renewal went to £420
Even LV contacted me directly to clarify what kind of damage/accident it was.
Parked car in tesco car park, went shooing, came back within 20min and note on windscreen, sorry scaped your car, phone number and name. (lucky me, someone left note)
Why i'm being penalized for this kind of shit!!!!!!!!
Out of my hand, probably should have stayed at home and do online shopping

Renewal from LV was £585 - went direct to BMW for £422 - good saving! I'd never normally go direct so thanks to the forum! 🙂

Also quoted on an M3 for the future and surprised it only increased to £518 compared to my current 330D
