I had that one but realized there was no loop to put it on a carabiner. I ended up selling it on Ebay.

Never used a cover for my car-keys..
Never had my tailgate open by accident.. Then again, never had one that opened automatically all the way.

And if you would see my Audi key after 5 years, you would see that scratches on my key are not of great concern to me
(Btw, my spare-key of my Audi is mint-condition )
Yes I just have mine to prevent the tailgate opening, I couldn't give a crap if it got scratched!
I had the trunk opening issue. Reported the issue to service department and they recorded on the job sheet it was a software error. They updated the software in the car and recoded the trunk to only open when the car is unlocked, problem solved.

I just bought this case. It's very nice, although somewhat expensive. No way to connect to other keys which I thought would be an issue but now I have it, wondered why I ever hooked my keys to the last one.
I had issues ordering because it seems the style for old key and new ones has same PN. You'll see lots online showing the old style - even BMW website and the catalog the dealer pulled up in parts dept. parts manager had to go to a different system where it showed both styles and allowed him to select the right one.

I was sceptical at first, but I use the display key as my daily. I love it. I keep it in a faraday pouch when at work, and then slip into my pocket when getting in the car.

Ive just ordered one of these to protect it should I drop it. Cheap but bouncy

Bought this from Amazon. Fits the key snuggly and looks good imho.

The keychain part can come off.

I've got one of those, but just black, and it's okay. Although it does seem to collect a lot of dust now.

Also no need for the faraday pouch as the BMW keys go to sleep after a few minutes of no movement.

Same here. I'm leasing so I can care less if the primary key gets scratched up.

Many of us aren't using the cover to prevent scratches, but instead to help with the random trunk opening. Had it happen a few times before getting a case.

Can't you code it to not open the trunk when locked?

If you search the forums here, random boot opening is a very common issue. It can be pretty dangerous.

I believe some people have asked dealers to do this with mixed success. Plenty of posts on the topic here.

I wanted to report that my key-pouch faraday bags stop working after a couple months of use (I know this is a key fob thread, but the most pertinent thread avail in the forum in my 2 sec search). Does anyone have similar experience with their faraday bag? Did anyone find a more permanent elegant solution (and by elegant I mean not using tin foil lol)?

I didn’t think faradays were needed for the G01. As key fob goes to sleep and stops communicating with car (which is what thieves intercept)

Indeed they stop sending signal after two minutes (according to non-validated sources in this forum), still a two minutes window of opportunity that I won't give to the thieves out there (yes I am overly cautious). Don't you think thieves know that?
