Upon further testing, I'm not sure the BMW recent coding wiped out the prior coding regarding no hatch opening with car locked. But then, I've also made other tailgate opening and closing options, so not sure exactly where I stand.

Only issue I've had lately is the famous sidewalk DYI car wash hatch opening and related locking and unlocking of the whole car during washing.

Not rare here in North Texas. We have an epidemic of rats due to all the home construction. This one manage to squeeze itself under the garage door where the builder cut the seal too short. Had that replaced when the X went in for surgery.

It's not so rare, unfortunately.

Correct...there is something in the recycled plastic coating on the wires that the rodents love the taste/smell of. If I'm not mistaken there was an attempt in the last couple of years for a class action lawsuit against an auto manufacture (can't remember who but seems like a US auto maker) for using that type of wiring. I didn't hear anything about it going forward so not sure on the status of the possible claim.

Exactly. Wiring on modern cars has a protective coating made from soy and seems animals are attracted to it. Manufacturers have taken steps to better isolate wiring in newer models to stop rodents from getting near the harnesses, but there's not much else they're doing today. Environmental law changes during the late 1990s and early 2000s pushed OEMs to move from petroleum based coatings to bio (soy) based.

Honda makes a harness tape that can be wrapped over potentially vulnerable locations on models where rodents have found easy entry.

I just bought a M40I out of state, the report shows the BMW dealer did same thing to my car before I bought it(B122019 Delivery Stop: Program Control Units DME).
I believe it cleared all the settings and coding, so that's why I can't pass the smog check due to OBD2 O2 sensor readiness. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1633427

Thanks for all the answers, helped me understand what happens on my car. But I'm still trying to finish the drive cycle to get pass the smog check, seems like the lazy O2 sensor still missing on the on board computer after 200 miles driving.

He said he ran the VIN and that there are not any recalls on my car.

Hope this helps. Mine also has to go in for DME update as well.
Very interesting. I was getting intermittent CEL's which would go away after a day or two. Took it to the dealer, they said they were unable to read the codes and had to reprogram. After reprogramming the codes were gone so they weren't able to diagnose. Said bring it back if it happens again. The myBMW site shows no active recalls for my VIN.

No one from BMW ever contacted us regarding the CEL and as mentioned above, it would toggle on and off over a weeks time. Now the light stays on constantly and we no longer have Comfort Access. This corresponds with a message indicating, "Comfort Access Reduced".

Obviously I'll need to make an appointment and take it in for diagnostics. Just not sure if this is related to the OP.

-- Update:
Appt. set for tomorrow morning. Will update with info. Prod.date on this vehicle is: 2018-02-10

After BMW reprogrammed, I did get a CEL that later went away on its own. My build date is also Feb '18. When I pulled error codes using MHD this is what I saw:

The "active air flap controls" and "lower radiator shutter" referenced I would assume are what your SA was calling the "radiator blinds"? I am assuming? Also interesting that I got a Fuel Tank Ventilation error in my shadow codes and your SA replaced yours during service. I cleared my error codes a few days ago and haven't seen anything recur. I've also been watching my radiator flaps and they seem to be opening and closing as appropriate (it's over 100F here every day so it only closes after the car has been parked and the fan has run long enough to cool down.

So when I flashed MHD Map1, I started getting the error popup in iDrive below, immediately after the flash. My build date is not in this range though, it's Feb '18. I swung by the dealership and my SA quickly recognized this error and said I'd have to make an appointment because it would require programming to fix, and there is a long line of folks waiting on the programmer. He must be familiar with the TIB.

That may be why my car has no ACP anymore. There's also some developer link in my Menü with a bunch of weird selections.....I'm reluctant to try and reinstall ACP.

Did you have 3rd party Carplay activation?
My car was kept for 2 weeks over Christmas because they could not complete software upgrade.

I’m guessing it might have been due to Carplay.... so I no longer use 3rd party carplay activation.
My car is completely stock. No 3rd party CarPlay software

So today I received a message that my 2019 X3M40I has a recall and to call and schedule. I run the VIN on the BMW website and no outstanding recalls. I have to take a day off and a pain to get to the dealer. Who do I believe?

Why bring it in just for that? Wait for your next oil change.
