We're all in the same boat! Hopefully some options will become available soon.

Tempting. Would want to hear how much this improves the sound by. My concern is whether installing the downpipe without changing the OPF is worth it.

Just heard from ac schnitzer they are expecting to release an OPF-compatible silencer for the 40i model in the spring with testing underway with a 140i, 240i and 540i.

Hit up Mike from BPM Sport - he's done remote tuning forever and is very good at it. I personally have his tune in my X3. love it.

AC Schnitzer have said they have one in the works for about 400HP, and should be ready soon.

Here's the graph from Celtic. EDIT: Just noticed the graph is for the M240i, even though the link was from the X3 M40i page.

Do any of you guys have experience of either?
AC Schnitzer have now released there piggy back tune. As you say it 400HP, but it’s £3500 quid. You do get a proper warranty though that runs alongside manufacturers. Still can’t quite see why it’s so much money. They also said they are releasing an exhaust and additional aero parts soon.

It runs as a separate warranty as opposed to 'alongside' but is for £10K max per claim on an M40i.

I think a gearbox, as an example, is a tad more than that though !!

I think it is more like £15K !!

I am not certain but am unsure the £10K warranty limit would cover something if the worst happened ! I am pretty sure the ACS tuning box - as it alters injector duration as opposed to fuel rail pressure - is a better, if more expensive, option ... and I fancy 400hp ... but it is going to have to wait for now as £3400 is not sitting waiting given my insurer are not willing to accept any modifications ! (BMW themselves).
