Saw somewhere 10” is max width in the back.
If you want to fill out the well (higher), just get a bigger tire?!

Remember to code your wheel circumference, so that odometer and speedo shows the right numbers.

I do really like how these fill up the wheel well. My main complaint about the 20" wheels is the lack of filling up the well...21" wheels would be perfect, unless you can lower it a bit without compromising the greatly tuned suspension etc.
I'm still experimenting... the ADV 10.5x22 and 295 tire will technically work, but I'm not sold on having such a large wheel on the X3 platform. Although there is no rubbing issues, they have the appearance of being oversized and too aggressive. The overall diameter of these wheels with the 295 tires also raises the car about an inch. The more important factor is the offsets... the ADVs are (23mm), which are very aggressive and creates a bit of poke. If the offsets were closer to 32mm with a 10.5" (20 or 21") wheel, I believe it would be more suitable to the size/shape of our vehicle.

I love the 22" ADV1s on my X5M, but I agree that a 20" or 21" wheel would be more appropriate for the X3

Instead of a bigger tire, I think lowering the vehicle an inch would net a better resulting appearance in relation to the fenders. I'm pushing the envelope here and going to try a 10.5x20 et32 in the rear and 9x20 et25 front while keeping with the same tire height as my 19" OEM wheels.
Based on my research, this combination is only 2mm closer to the suspension components and extends 24mm farther out in the rear AND only 1mm closer inside and 11mm farther out in the front than the OEM 20 and 21" wheels...

Fingers crossed, but I think this will work!

Thumbs up

I'm very interested in the outcome of this upgrade! My wife wants to trade in the 535d M Sport for a X3. I want her to get the M40i since I don't think the diesel variant will be here by the time the lease ends.

Would anyone know if these Beyern wheels would work? These are officially for the 5-series, but I think they look great. However, I'm not sure if the offsets and fitments would work. Ideally, I'd love to go with the 20x9 square.

I don't know why not...right bolt pattern, you may just have to check the offsets with the width of the tires you want to put on etc. Bayern didn't have any 5x112 bolt pattern wheels when I ordered my Savini's... dang.

Thanks for the feedback. I compared my current 21" setup using the willtheyfit site, and it looks like things will work out, even if I go to the 20x9 wheels and a 275/40R20. The wheels would just come out about 11 mm, which would look good.

Looks really nice, any 3/4 shots showing the width? Personally I think it looks fine at stock height.

Looks amazing. Great choice. No need to lower in my opinion. What size and brand of tires did you go with for the front and back?

I don’t get it. Why buy an SUV and lower it? Just get a 3 Series wagon, if that’s what you want.

Handling and I like how it looks. Plus the 3 series wagon that's available to NA is way slower and I am only about fast cars.

If you lower it, then you will post pics and I will want to lower mine. Then in three years I will kick myself come lease return time for lowering.

But yeah, lowering would definitely be icing on the cake. Looks great with the wheels.

stock sizes for 21" wheels work just fine;
245/40r21 front
275/35r21 rear

Thank you.... I think black wheels and black trim would look awesome, but the Titanium trim looks pretty good too... Probably not worth the expense to change it, but I may wrap the titanium pieces to see how I will like it.

I really want to lower it, but my wife is not wanting me to do this because it is her daily.
We already have a lowered M4 that she is very nervous about driving;

I'm looking for 19 or 20 inch wheels to replace the Factory 21's and like the look of your wheels. Did you buy your wheels and tires online? what make of tires did you get.
Thanks Rick

This looks sweet! I do hope the TSW's hold over the long haul. Since the X3 will be my wife car, I think I need to look at a forged setup...

I had the same wheel on our SL500 (silver w/mirror face version); the fit was on point and they held up very well. I feel like its a good solid wheel for everyday use. The cool thing about the Mercedes is that the wheels accepted the factory centercaps... People loved them. Everyone just thought that they were another AMG wheel!

The TSWs are rotary forged, stronger than cast, light weight and has the ability to flex. The rotary forged or (flow forged) process stretches and compresses the aluminum in the barrel area of the wheel and in the process, the structure of the alloy is realigned in a way that enhances its tensile strength and stiffness, giving it similar properties to a forged wheel in the barrel area. This process also increases elongation, or the amount that a wheel is able to flex before arriving at a breaking point. This happens to be an important safety feature to consider if you're smashing curbs at a racetrack or pounding potholes on the highway....

The ADV1s that were on my X5M were machined out of a solid block of aluminum. Cool wheels, but stupid expensive....
I will reserve them (or perhaps a set of HREs for my next full on M-car or Porsche)
