2022 x3m comp $
Looking to purchase my first ever x3m comp.
Can you please list the general maintenance upkeep for this beast. I drive 20k a year. When to replace tires, brakes, rotors, etc. and how much on average. Also, any maintenance plan worth purchasing or just find a local BMW shop. Thanks in advance. |

If new, first 3 years of maintenance is free. A good dealer will replace wipers, top off fluids, etc each oil change. Pads rotors, etc are consumables but could last the full 3 years. If not, no worries unless you abuse the brakes and the dealer can find evidence to deny coverage.
If second hand, free maint is now non transferable so maybe research and find a reputable BMW independent shop for oil changes. Long term, get an extended warranty to reduce year 4,5,6 costs. Tires are a necessary evil and annual expenditure on a car like the X3M, especially if you drive hard. Michelin PS4S or equivalent are not cheap. Stepping to an all season may give better wear, cost less and be more useful in MI or other northern states. The Michelin AS4 are quite good I hear.

Thanks so much for the reply, really appreciate it. I do live in Michigan and plan on getting the AS once they are due. Hoping to get 18 months since I mainly drive on the highway. Extended Warranty - approx. how much for year 4,5,6 (60k miles)? Go through BMW? Or hope nothing major happens and have local BMW shop as back up? |

How long do you plan on keeping it?
General Maintenance is: Every 10k - Engine Oil Every 20k - Vent Filter Every 30k - Air Filter and Plugs Every 50k - Differential and Transfer Case fluids You're warranty lasts to 50k so that first round of the above list is covered. In regards to tires you're not going to get 18 months out of either tire that come on this vehicle if you drive 20kmi per year. Also, you're in Michigan so you you'll either have to swap to an AS or a winter tire before your current tires are worn out regardless. |

As someone else said, the tires that come on the X3M are geared toward summer. You will need an all season to get thru a winter. |

BMWS coverage on 22's have changed!! The basic $700 coverage is 36 months, 36k miles, I would up it to the 48M/50k miles for ~$2k if you plan on keeping it.

I would absolutely not recommend this vehicle for that yearly mileage. In fact I wouldn't recommend any M vehicle at that yearly mileage. Even if you can afford the upkeep, you are going to be constantly at the dealership for maintenance, you'll be replacing tires likely TWICE every 12-18 months, and you'll be at the gas pump even more. It's just not a vehicle meant for that kind of driving - would recommend an M Sport for that.
