So I installed 4 alpine speakers this morning as it was super easy and got in the car to check out my work and noticed that my console lock button doesnt get any response. I can manually lock and unlock the doors but nothing automatically.

I was repairing the vapor barriers on my rear doors last weekend, and noticed the central locking button didn't do anything with the door panels off. Maybe you have a loose connection in the window switches?

Does your remote still work with locking/unlocking? Even with the door panels off, the central locking button should still work. You'd have to use a multimeter to check for proper readings..basically electrical diagnosis. Hopefully it's just a bad switch or loose wire plug.

The remote works to lock and unlock and the key in the handle works as well for all doors when it is applied. Just the interior physical button doesn't work.

It started working after driving it. I suppose the battery was a little low. But in nice fashon the passenger window stopped working.

You'd want to do a battery load test and see if the battery is still good...I'd recommend doing an starter and alternator test too...a tool like topdon artibattery is good for this, scotty kilmer has a video on this.....at least there doesn't seem to be an electrical issue, so that's good. Also for future, you may want to check out the E83 forums on Bimmerfest...very active and can get responses there faster...especially since I'm not that active often

It helps if the plug is connected before putting the door skins back in. Thanks for responding to my questions.

Could you share the model of alpine speakers you installed. I understand the space is very limited for the rear doors.
