BMW CPO Warranty Reduced to 1 Year

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
It looks like BMW just reduced their CPO warranty from 2 year/50,000 miles (on top of original factory warranty) to 1 year/unlimited miles (on top of original factory warranty). It seems like they're trying to cut back on everything!

Wow......

My Z4M really might be my last BMW, unless of course I get another one of them.

Doesn't bother me as much as it would have awhile back. The Americans are making some kickass, amazing cars now.

Crap, I was considering a CPO M2 or X4 M40i at some point.

Got 3 years on mine, some years ago. They'll cry when the residual drops like a stone on leases.

Sad. First it was the maintenance warranty that was reduced... now this. Next it will be the original 4/50K miles.

I guess they feel the BMW isn’t exclusive enough and there are too many on the road.

Sounds like BMW following in Mercedes footsteps. Mercedes did this years ago.

More cost cutting by BMW...

So this makes the CPO much less interesting. Sounds like we'll have to start factoring in the Gold warranties when purchasing used BMWs. That being said, this also means we can start buying from wherever we want to, since it's less interesting to buy used BMWs from the dealership.

Just means you need to negotiate more to get the better warranty without paying an arm and a leg.

If I purchased my car CPO last year, I still have 2 years right after original warranty expires right?

That's interesting because in Europe, it is two years and unlimited miles for CPO aka Premium Selection BMWs on top of the factory warranty.

Quite weak of them, look's to me as partly them lacking confidence in their product.

Lexus quality/reliability is looking better and better.

Great point. Really the only reason I buy direct from a dealer is for the cpo. Always thought that dealerships made the majority of their products on used cars and maintenance.

They still have a 1 or 2 year CPO plan. They have had that option for a few years now. The unlimited miles is what is changing.

My 135i CPO period ends April 2019. I'll drive the hell out of it until that time, then put my money in an automaker who stands behind their product a bit more.

Another reason I will pony up the cash and buy a CPO porsche. A company that stands by its products. 3 bmw's currently leased all going back in next 2 years.

Correct. The changes are not retroactive to an extant CPO warranty.

This is what it seems like to me too. From link in OP:

Additional plans are available to extend your vehicle's coverage up to a total of 6 years with unlimited miles.
