Folding in side Mirrors

I bought my X3 20d xline last week ( its my first BMW ) comming from Mazda 6 2014.. something that I still didnt figure out is the side mirrors , how to fold in them ? There is no button for it on the door panel , no option for it in the idrive.
I`ve never thought about it when i bought that car, could it be manualy folded in ? I’m afraid to try folding in them manualy , that i might break something.
This is might be stupid but its my first BMW and i wonder if this is normal ?

Electric folding mirrors are generally a option on BMW, I had to pay extra for them on my M40i, you should be able to push them in though I would have thought?

Mine has auto folding mirrors (I think all US models do). In addition to setting up functions in idrive (auto fold when locked/unfold when unlocked), there is a button on the door that you can press. It's pretty obvious, so I'm assuming yours just doesn't have the feature. I'm sure you can manually fold them though.

No folding Wing Mirrow Option

Just bought an X3 M Sport (UK spec), and amazed that there is no option in idrive or a button to press for folding in the wing mirrors. Why would this not be as standard ??? I kow it's another ploy to get more money from you, but this didn't even enter my mind as a question to pose to the salesman. It's not on the standard spec list and I find that incredible....

Anyone know if you can go back to BMW and request this is added now ?? Is there a warranty for taking it back if not satisfied ? (petty I know / 1st world problem, but it is very annoying seeing as it's an amazing car otherwise). Thanks

Don't you do a double lock click on the key to fold the mirrors? I don't know as I don't have a G01 yet...but I've not seen it as an option either.

It's an option here in The Netherlands.
One I overlooked and didn't choose unfortunately......

I must say the mirrors are quite small, do you gain much by folding them?

Looks better? You can squeeze between cars more easily?

Is there a button to fold them while the engine is running?

Yes. By default you can fold them out below 20mph. However I have coded mine to enable folding at higher speeds which can be useful on tight country roads.

Just been told by BMW that "Thanks for replying, I can confirm the production of your car fell into week 25 which is in June. At the time of ordering your vehicle the “430 – folding exterior mirrors with anti-dazzle” was an optional extra of £300.00.

The option has become standard for models being produced from week 36 ( September).

To say I'm livid is an understatement.

It's not just a production week difference. It's different model years. Week 36 production is MY2020

I can’t think of many cars before 2020 model year that have folding mirrors as standard.

I had both a 2005 and a 2007 vehicle that had them as standard, so I would think it is pretty much an expectation now. That's really strange it isn't included.

Especially considering (in relation to the US) what they pay for their vehicles over there.

€ 280,- for that option or so..
BS for a car that costs € 75K. The 20i that is, with some options........

Really frustrating that I didn't chose the folding mirrors.
Because now I don't have a dipping mirror when reversing, although the configurator stated it would when I opted the Dimming rearview interior mirror..

The dipping mirror isn't that great. Dips too much to be honest. You almost get a view of the front of the car, it goes so low.

Yeah ok, but you could change the dipping angle with coding..

Just noticed that in my personal manual, when entering VIN, it states that I've got folding mirrors...
Strange right...?

Was looking if the outer mirrors are heated.. Weathers changing over here and this morning the mirrors where fogged.. Just wanted to check..

If you don't have a button, they are tied to the rear defroster.

Button for heating? There is no button for that. Heating is automatically on everytime you start the car. Not tied to anything else. The level of heating is temperature dependent.

If you have electric seats, then the mirror will dip ( so long as the toggle is on drivers side) - it was a nice surprise for me this week!!
