Oil selection help

Hello!

i am a new owner of a BMW X3 2015 sDrive20i i got with 25,000km (old lady who only drove it to the supermarket)

I need to do an oil change pretty soon, here in my country (Panama) i have access to liqui moly, what would probably be best? 5w-30 or 5w-40? I have the log of the past services done at the dealership and they started with 5w-30 but then they moved to 5w-40, what would be better considering Panama is a country with usually hot weather?

Thanks!

you probably want a 40 weight ....unless you drive short trips. it takes time for oil temps to reach > 100c. you want the oil to reach 100c to allow moisture to escape using the CCV.

I use 0w-40 here in so. cal as there is some valve train noise when cold with 5w-30 when we got service from the dealership.

Sounds good. And, there is usually recommendations in viscosity in the car's owners manual.

I'm in SoCal and run 0W40 in my X3, normally aspirated 6 cylinder motor.
