X4M Comp can't be released due to recall

My 2022 X4M Competition was delivered to the dealership at the end of March but they can't release it for a "torsion strut bar" recall.

On the BMW recall page looking the car up by VIN they show no recall.

The sales guy didn't have a timeline for parts arrival.

Anybody have more information about this recall or the parts delivery timeline? The dealership hasn't been very forthcoming.

It's more than a little frustrating that the car has been sitting there for 3 weeks with no movement and essentially no communication.

Someone posted the other day about the same issue. It's not a recall, it's a stop sale. The strut bar is not/was not available at the factory and they shipped the car without it - to be installed by the dealership when they receive the part.

EDIT: Here's the link: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...postcount=1633

Did you call the genius line to see if this was flagged on your vehicle or if they have an update? My x4m was just dispatched from factory today after sitting in qc for 9 days wonder if mine was delayed because of that same issue. Genius doesn't have any flags on mine, fwiw

Crazy that a simple aluminum part can delay delivery of a $80k vehicle. Hope you get your car soon. Good luck.

How about asking the dealer if they can get you an at-cost carbon fiber strut bar?

Interesting that people say these do not make a difference in handling. Though I am surprised BMW considers the vehicle undriveable without it.

I don't think they release it due to liability as well as providing a incomplete product is probably a NONO. Understanding how suspension pieces work I am sure that the strut makes a improvement however that improvement is probably negligible

Thanks for the info and suggestions. Our salesman has gone MIA and the parts department needs him to figure out the part situation before knowing a timeline or if there is a CF upgrade they could offer.

Funny thing, he emailed to say we could pick up the car the day after it arrived but everything since then has gone downhill.

If we don't have some kind of resolution by Friday the wife is going to the dealership to make them regret their unprofessionalism.

Just curious if you have received any more info on this stop sale such as details on the fix or an ETA?

I’m in the same situation with my 2022 x3 m40i and I have no more info than what I’ve found on this thread. My car has been sitting on the dealer lot for a month. Thanks!

Finally got ahold of the salesman.

Recall happened between delivery to the dealership and when we could pick it up.

No ETA on the part. No ballpark even. No alternate parts.

The new part is going on new builds but recalled cars aren't getting priority.

The dealership ordered us a new car as a backup plan but I think we'll walk away if it's going to be that many more months.
