Where do you live?

I don't own a X3M or X4M, but the vehicle interests me so I've been browsing here since it was released. I've noticed that there seems to be an unusually high percentage of owners from the U.K. (England, Scotland, Wales) than in other BMW M forums, like the F80/F82/F83 M2/M3, the F87 M2, or the older ZPost forum. It seems to be hugely popular there, and it's not a market where I thought it would be so popular.

(Note: Like most Americans, I'm woefully ignorant of geographical/political details/boundaries, so I apologise if I've lumped anybody together incorrectly. I can edit the poll for corrections.)

If you don't mind, please indulge me and take the poll above.

I am local in San Diego, but I do agree there are a ton of UK members on this site for the X3/4 M

Yup seems like a good 60-70% of the active posters in this sub forum are UK based, maybe more. Oddly disproportionate compared to the other areas of this site.

Have you, or do you plan to take X3M to an autocross? Are you a member of the San Diego Chapter of the BMW CCA?

BMW were offering massive discounts in Q4 of last year in the UK. You were getting into a X3MC for the same price as a X3 m40i. A lot of us jumped on that deal hence why you are seeing a lot of UK owners in the forum.

I haven't done autocross in the x3m. I've done it before in my 135i, but I find autocross to be a bit too choppy and jerky. Also, the OEM tires on the x3m (conti for me) look like they will only last 8-10k miles, the tread depth is really minimal.

I much prefer the nice backroads that we have in San Diego County and going through the mountains at a nice pace. I am a CCA member and plan to take the X3M on the cruise set for 2/23. Will most likely have a full load with my wife and twin babies, which is why we got the x3m over what we would normally want (m3/4).

One thing that's pretty funny is the roads by me are super crappy and my wife's been driving the car in sport plus suspension around town and likes it! The suv is stiff!

What part of San Diego are you in?

Long Island New York. I know there’s a few from the Long Island and NYC area on here. Just haven’t seen their cars in real life. I still feel like I’m the only one driving around in one in these parts. Lol

We’re here.

Mine has been off the road for 2 weeks due to PPF/Ceramic and giving another week in the garage to cure.

I’m so tempted to take it out in the snow tomorrow to test my new winter wheels but she’s so clean!

What to do????

My OCD meter is exploding!

I’m also building the courage to leave it in the train station parking lot all day.

Yes, our back roads are definitely a great place to drive spiritedly! I'll be at the February cruise. We shouldn't have trouble finding each other as I'll likely have the only Sakhir Orange M4 and you'll likely have the only X3M! My wife may also drive her San Marino Blue M3.

I live in Rancho Penasquitos.

Sorry, I didn't know what to do with Ireland/North Ireland and didn't want to offend anybody if I got it wrong. I thought I could edit the poll but I can't seem to find a way to do that.

P.S. I'm 1/4 Irish and 1/4 Scottish!

I decided to take it out in the snow as well!

The Pirelli Scorpion Winters did well (though I wasn’t pushing it).

I did manage to kick on the anti-lock brakes when hard braking in a parking lot with only about an inch of slush.

Perhaps I was expecting too much, but I figured with a dedicated winter tire it would perform as if it was dry?

Oh and my car is a salty mess now. I was hoping hosing off with the ceramic coating would do it but looks like I still have to wash.
