Hey all. I could use some advice on this one.

I have a 2022 X3MC and had MSS springs installed a few months ago. The drop is not extreme. I used the RGSport recommended 10/25 setting and it looks and rides great. I never had a problem with drivers assistance + until I installed the latest OTA update 03/2023.53. A couple days after installing the update I started getting driver assistance errors. The error specifically called out the KAFAS camera behind the rear view mirror. I took her into the dealer and they said that because the vehicle is lowered that the KAFAS camera can't calibrate.

Personally this doesn't make much sense to me because for a couple months after getting it lowered I had no issues. The errors showed up after the latest update.

The question is where do I go from here? Try a different dealer? Take it to my 3rd party BMW shop?

I will attach a pic of their description from the paperwork.

[QUOTE=SCCThree;30343822]Hey all. I could use some advice on this one.

You're front camera is dirty. The suspension doesn't make sense. I have had MSS, KW'S and H&R's, never had that issue. I would find a good local shop. I trust dealers with my car like I would trust Bill Cosby at a quinceanera!

I wish it was that simple. It’s not.

Windshield is crystal clear.

Agreed. I think the dealer tech saw it was lowered and kicked the can.

Have you taken a look at the cameras itself? This happened to me when the camera mounts broke...

Tried that. I don’t think you can see out of the camera behind the rear view mirror. When you check the camera it shows the view from the hood. If I’m not mistaken.

Did you look at it from outside the car? That's what my picture shows. Open the door and take a look at the top center of the windshield from the outside.

It's not the parking camera for the front view that's on the grille. As pyo mentioned, it's the one behind the windshield, so you'll look near the rear view mirror area from the outside of the car to see the driver's assistance cameras.

If it's sagging, that's the source of the issue. Be prepared to fight the dealership since the only fix will be a windshield replacement and it seems like they're already trying to blame your lowered car. You might need to go to different dealerships to get it taken care of.

I have a cracked windshield and the dealer wanted to charge like 4k to replace it. Geico suggested using safe-lite and it looks like I will only have to pay a $500 deductible and they will replace it and re-calibrate all the sensors. So if you have to remove/replace the winshield safe-lite may be the way to go.

fuck dealerships. scumbags all the way around.

definitely fight it, if this is the case. there are plenty of us that got it done under warranty. tell them to talk to the BMW NA engineers.

4k?!?! I'm actually on my 3rd windshield...1st was replaced due to KAFAS mount under warranty and 2nd due to a crack. Safelite charged $1,780.54; this was with OEM BMW HUD glass and ADAS recalibration. $0 from me though since I went thru insurance

pyo thanks for the link to the other thread. I’ll take a closer look. I think I’ll try a different dealer.

Since taking it to the dealer a couple weeks ago I have since stopped getting the error that the front camera has an issue. Now it's just a bunch of features failing. I need to find time to get it into a different dealer.

Have you checked your ride height sensor? There is one on the driver side control arm. You'll be able to see if crawling under the car. It might be damaged and throwing all those codes. It's an easy check that might be worth it. There is another ride height sensor on the rear too.

I got the "Drivers assistance systems are being prepared" error on a hot day but it went away when the car cooled down as well. I really hope this doesn't happen again.

This is most definitely a design flaw that is making me think twice about keeping the car

Mine happens every day as soon as I start her up. Something is definitely wrong. I need to find some time to get it into another shop. Things have been so busy lately.
