I had the Remus race exhaust on my old F97. I didn’t like it. The drone was awful and it was very, very, loud.

I have the AA non-resonated mid-pipe on my new F97 with the stock comp muffler, and am happy with that.

I just ordered a Valvetronic cat back. Hope to have it on next week. We'll see.

I have the Remus race, axle-back, and I love it. Sometimes I wish I got the cat-back option, but I think only because it's no longer an option.

Some friends and I tried a few variations between:

Axleback:
- Stock
- Remus Racing
- Dinan
- Akrapovic

Midpipe:
- Stock
- ER
- AA Non-Resonated/Resonated

I ended up going with Akrapovic + AA Non-Resonated. I found it to have the best tone with minimal rasp. I've yet to hear the Valvetronic and GT Haus catbacks in person but I've read good things about them as well.

What would you consider runner up to akra, and have you heard the AA axle back? If so, where would that stack?

Can you post a clip of this? Interested in akrapovic and have been waiting for a used one to pop up for sale

Curious to see how it sounds with the AA mid pipe

I'm loving my GT Haus cat back. It provides a nice deep grunt with no drone or rasp. I believe they sell just the axle back too if that's what you are looking for but don't quote me.

With stock downpipes:

It's tough to choose a runner up as I've yet to hear the GT Haus/Valvetronic catbacks and AA/Remus Sport axlebacks in person. Based off BrockDM's video and the Valvetronic video, I'd give those both consideration as well.

My review is based off valves being fully open as I pulled the fuse. Everything exhaust related had a few hundred miles on them at the minimum. I drove for a couple hours on each setup.

If you enjoy a loud aggressive exhaust with rasp, I think Remus Race would be a good fit assuming you plan on swapping out the midpipe with a non-resonated version. With the stock and AA resonated midpipes, the rasp was still present but no where near as much. Regardless you will deal with some drone.

If you want something more tame while still louder than stock, Dinan would be a good fit. It's quieter than Remus Race and Akrapovic but has a nice deep tone to it. I don't remember having any drone issues.

I found Akrapovic to be the best middle ground between loudness, tone, and minimal rasp. There is a tiny amount of drone at low RPMs that I experience on the freeway (with the non-resonated midpipes) but it's only between a specific RPM range that I'm never in anyways.

If I had to rank axlebacks and midpipes based off my taste (for what I've heard in person):

Axleback:
Akrapovic > Dinan > Remus Race > Stock

Midpipe:
AA non-resonated > AA resonated > ER > Stock

AA made an incredible midpipe and the single versus dual pipe makes a big difference on tone and rasp (with the latter being less deep and having more rasp at high RPMs). Don't get me wrong, ER also makes a great midpipe but it had a bit too much rasp at high RPMs for my liking.

Anyone have sound clips or experience comparing resonated vs. non-resonated AA midpipes? I'm not finding anything.

Dinan sounds great with both AA midpipes! Nice deep tone while not over the top loud. I didn’t notice any issues with rasp/drone with or without the resonator (with the latter being louder and refining the tone in my opinion). You won’t be disappointed.

I tried to record every setup I tested at the time but my phone paired with the wind just didn’t do it justice I’m hoping I can borrow a friends camera either this weekend or next to get a video of my Akra/AA setup (including the BMS intake which is hard to find videos of currently).

I tried to take one yesterday with a couple different phones but the sound is off. My buddy with a nice camera comes back into town in a week, so I'll be able to get a proper sound clip then. I'll update this thread with the video asap.
