'04 X3 radio issues
On my daughter's '04 X3 radio/cd player the radio will display a frequency when to "on" knob is depressed but there is no sound. Same with CD. After about ten seconds the frequency numbers go away and the display reverts to time. We swapped out the HU with a known good one and got the same symptoms. Tentative diagnosis: bad amp. Has anyone had this problem. Was the amp the culprit? Does anyone repair the amps? Does anyone have a spare 65.12 6946727 Lear amp? Know of a source for one? Other suggestions?

Radio doesn't know or care if the amp is there, it's not on the iBus like DSP cars. I suspect if you put in a CD, press the clock button or tune the radio the display will update accordingly.
You may have one of several problems depending on your equipment; Nav has captured the audio (unplug nav drive), phone has captured the audio (unplug phone module), amp has water damage, amp fuse gone, amp power stage blown. |
