Paragon P3 Brake Pads
Received partial delivery of my new P3 pads and rotors.
Let's play a game of "can you spot it" and see if someone can spot a difference in these 4 pads? 2 are still in the wrapper and the other 2 are loose. Good luck! 😁

It's fine...only one inboard pad on drivers front uses 1 sensor and one sensor for inboard pad on passenger rear.

Yeah I understand that part. What concerns me is the notch area where the pad is looking brittle. Seems like they manufactured the backing plate in the wrong orientation. After the pad wears down, that part of the pad may be susceptible to further damage due to uneven distribution of pressure? What do you think?

Also this pad compound is aggressive but durable from what I understand, lol the wear with the paragon grooved rotors will always cut an even face on the pad under hard braking..it shouldn't be "brittle" where chuncks will come off. Or I am talking out of my ass and not sure I understand what your asking,.....lol Last edited by Burr001; 04-29-2024 at 09:23 PM.. |

More so the possibility that the pad bridging over the notch area would become a weak point under heat, vibration, pressure. Regardless of it all, I payed for it and currently in email contact to get a correctly made product replacement. Don't really feel like being a guinea pig for bad QA, especially on a piece that my life could depend on lol Now we'll see if their customer service can exceed their product reputation. I have received only 1 email reply to the situation so far acknowledging that it is pressed on the wrong side of the backing plate.

Here is an update on the new paragon 2-piece rotors and paragon p3 semi-metallic pads:
Roughly 200 miles into the new rotors and pads, I will have to say that the p3 pads are starting to perform well over stock. Initial bite has increased. Brake fade on the few apex corners i've experienced them on while coming from a 65-70 mph to nearly 10-20mph turn going slightly downhill is gone. No squeaks or odd noises with exception of the last few inches of fully stopping. Have not tried them in the rain yet so more to come. They do rust when in contact with water(i washed my car) on parts that the pads don't touch. As much as it bothers me, braking performance wins here in my opinion. To save someone else the headache I went through if you decide to go this route, here are the correct parts for pads and rotors: *The rotors does say "Supra" on them but hey, it's pretty much a bmw anyways. Same dimensions all around* Front Rotor Rear Rotor Front Pads Rear Pads Yes, these are G80 pads according to the webisite but they are the correct dimensions as well!

Thanks Gr8ZongB58 !
BTW, Burr001, I wanted to ask you what you think about the Paragon rotors after a while of use. Less brake fading? TIA.

I haven't gone to the track yet, but with a more aggressive pad I will see how well the rotors will take it. So far so good, my money well spent. Last edited by Burr001; 05-24-2024 at 01:37 PM.. |

jrveron If you decide on these, I would highly recommend the goodrich ss brake lines and a brake fluid flush(I used ATE type 200), not sure what fluid burr is using but doing this to get the maximum difference in feel and performance.

So update on EBC red pads....its been great not washing the wheels every other day almost a week and half, great ceramic option. But from 140 to 40 I overheated the pads and glazed the shit out of them. Had to wait till everything cooled down to get pedal feel back, they were smoking and I may have created a few hot spots on the rotor...lol. Everyday driving they out performed OEM pads, and felt great when spirted driving, but under heavy repeated braking on twisty roads it decided no ty and left the chat.
BTW the rotors are still in great shape after all the abuse since install. I am torn between isweep 2000, 2500 or just going EBC semi track yellow upfront. We have a group trip later this year to tail of the dragon and at over 300 turns and me following a few G80/G82's, I do not want to be that guy. Gr8ZongB58 how are you liking the p3 pads? |

I personally had an annoying experience with the P3 pads. Followed the break in procedure and everything turned out fine until about 2 weeks after. I took the trophy for the loudest squealing brakes in my town. Re-did the brake in procedure but it did not help. Greased all parts also did not help, until one day when I was washing my car and getting ready to sand my pads, I applied iron-x to my wheels and it happen to also get on my rotors and every other brake part. Pressure washed it all off and went for a drive...squealing gone and been gone for over 2 weeks now. Coincidence? Who knows. May have just been broken in finally(after 1k miles) or pads may have hard material that needed to wear off. Just to note, the pad manufacturer are Winmax Japan but the shipment came from an address in China? Performance-wise, these pads are an improvement over stock pads and If i were to give it a number of increase, I would say about 50% better than stock. The pads don't bite well at initial drive off until it's warmed up(1-2 moderate stop sign stops out of my neighborhood). Once they are warm, they work confidently. I've only tested them from about 80mph to 10mph hard stops and they still perform confidently afterwards. The pads seems to reach peak stopping power at high temps and still have no issues with brake fade or pedal feel...yet. I did not measure temperature of the rotors but I can feel intense heat radiating off the rotors outside my wheels. Wheel dust is what you would expect..shitty. Overall, after the squeals were gone, I like them and would buy them again. I would like to try out ebc yellows and/or hawks in the future just to get a better comparison. So if you do get the yellows, please update! TL;DR: Initially struggled with loud brake squealing from P3 pads despite proper break-in, but accidentally applying iron-x to my wheels and rotors seemed to solve the issue. Performance-wise, they're about 50% better than stock pads, though they need warming up for optimal initial bite. They perform well under hard stops from high speeds with no noticeable brake fade. They produce a lot of wheel dust but overall, I'm satisfied after the initial squealing stopped and would consider buying them again, but I'm curious about trying EBC yellows or Hawks next time for comparison.

I highly recommend EBC yellowstuff. I had them on my previous F48 (ecu tuned, lowered, slotted rotors, etc.), and they perform very well under heavy driving, including many turns and ups and downs (mountain road style).
Of course, the G01 is a different animal, but they will be my number 1 option when my pads need replacement.

Well with red or any ceramic its not meant for really hard driving. An organic pad is nice but a semi metallic or any other high heat operating pad will be for me now on. All I can say that these rotors have exceeded my expectation for those who tend to push the limits more often.
The P3 sounds like the same compound of EBC yellows or Isweep 2500. I can't find anyone who carry isweep 2500 in stock, so Yellow it is when I take the trip and I will be reinstalling my ebc green pads as the daily. The green had no issues and the dust levels seem to be on par of what Isweep 2000 are. BTW i also ordered the shims from Paragon... Last edited by Burr001; 07-23-2024 at 07:37 PM.. |
