some small annoyances maybe there are solutions
overall very happy with the x3 so far.
looks great in and out, and drives great for an SUV. Infotainment is very good compared to most cars, with a few minor complaints (compared to my dodge Uconnect) anyhow but it's better than many including acura, lexus, gm, ford etc. a few very minor items, maybe there are workarounds? 1. auto start stop is defaulted to on? this is the stupidest feature ever created, is there any way to default to off other than every time I start I have to press the button? 2. The AC. is there a way to shut it off and on with one button? the only way I see is to hit the fan button 7 times and then to turn it off you have to press it 7 times again. idiotic. 3. The start/stop button. when I finish a drive, and press the stop button, everything stays on until you close the door and arm the car, i.e. radio still blasting etc. is this normal? most cars i've owned have off/run/ac this seems to have on/off only which is fine, but when I stop and press the button it's annoying that everything stays on full blast unless armed. 4. Remote start. where is it? I have the mybmw app and found just about everything else except this. 5. the RFT's with no spare. ridiculous but I'll fix this with non RFt's and a real spare I guess. again, very minor first world complaints, overall I enjoy driving the car. love the 24.6 MPG that I'm getting compared to my outgoing hellcat that got 14 downhill with the ac off LOL... also big insurance savings, I miss the power but I'm learning to act my age LOL |

1. You can fix this through coding only.
2. Hold the '-' button until it's off. It's faster than pressing it many times. 3. When you park and turn off the car (without opening doors), the instrument cluster and info screen will remain on. When you open the door then everything should shut off. HOWEVER, if you open the door too quickly after shutting off the car, the system may not fully shut off. If you're annoyed about this, you can always hold the power button to manually shut it off. 4. Not sure. I believe there is a software update coming soon. |

Did you option remote start for your car? It’s not standard. On mine there is an option for “Plan climate control (engine start)” in My BMW app.

2, AC, not too sure what you are getting at but i have mine setup to the fan speed i like it at when its on, and when i want it off i turn off the "auto" button next to the control and it shuts off and just recirculates air. When i want it back on, i hit the auto button again and it resumes the settings i had it at. 3, when done driving, with the doors closed, hit the start stop button, then open the door. The radio and cluster, etc will shut off when the door is opened this way. Dont worry about the ambient light and all still being on, it will shutoff on its own after awhile. No harm to the battery. If you or a passenger opens the door before shutdown the radio and everything will stay on and eventually shutoff but as said, you can press and hold the power button on the volume knob and it will shutoff, or just lock the car for the same effect. 4, remote start is a function of your key fob and also in the app. Enable remote start in the menu setting in Idrive and then with the fob the car can be remote started by pressing the bmw logo twice then holding down on the third press. You must have the option from the factory in your build however. 5, no spare is needed with runflats, the idea being that the tires are rated to last long enough to get you where you can get a replacement tire if needed. The "space saver spare" takes up a considerable portion of the trunk and most opt to not have this in their build. Also, with good roadside insurance and depending on where you live, is a spare really needed? 6, the power is still there, of course not a hellcat level but there are ways to improve the response if you are in the mood for some street runs, sport plus mode tunes the transmission and engine to be very snappy and responsive, i have surprised many vehicles with this in a seemingly unassuming SUV. If you want more power though that isnt threatening longevity to much a downpipe and JB4 have made alot of owners quite happy. Good luck.

I have the same 4 or 5 gripes about my 2019. Actually have had it back to the dealer a couple times regarding the radio and such not powering down. Got told that I just need to take the key fob out of the car and lock it to ensure everything is shut off...yes, even in my attached and locked garage...ridiculous. The RFTs are the worst tires every...13k miles on a set and they are worn out...BMW says "normal". Ditched then for some standard tires with a plug kit and inflator in the trunk. Remote start is a option.

It’s a new 2023, I believe I saw the remote start option on the sticker for 300$ just don’t see how to remote start it lol. Didn’t see anything in app. I’ll try the 3 button press thanks.
As for AC, thanks I actually figured it out just now on my drive lol. Much better . Guess I should have read manual. I’ll try again but everything stays on even after pressing the start stop button and opening and even closing the door. Just weird not sure why it all stays on. Like I said these are deal killing items just small annoyances . I’ll try the remote start now when I go home.

So there is a setting first needed to turn on in the menu before remote start works?
As for the run flats, yes I’ve needed my spare more than once in the past year . That’s an easy fix. I’ll give up space for a spare . I also get a lot of nails where I drive and if you drive on a run flat without air there is no plugging them so it’s a problem for me amosnt other items like price and treadlife lol.

My M40i didn’t have the option from the factory for remote start. I had to go to the Connected Store online and purchase, was $300 I think for a lifetime activation. When I decode my VIN now it shows on the build option list. Once I purchased online, an update pushed to the car and I had to go to messages in the car and accept it and then go to the settings menu to enable to option.

Just found the setting for shutting off when door open so thanks for that one! I missed it before somehow.
Going to find sticker now as I’m pretty sure they charged me for remote start but I could be wrong lol

2. AC itself can be shut down with "AC" button. Ventilation with "-" button. Do you really use 7th level? I usually use 1st - 3rd (rarely), it's more than enough usually...
3. Quite a comfort function for me. Radio on even if I open the door is nice when travelling with someone else, the same with BT. |

You can also remote start from the keyfob. Just quickly click the lock button three times. No need to hold it down on the third press. Just three quick presses. Car can be locked or unlocked when you do this.

Thanks guys, got both items fixed. Remote start works great now and all shuts off when I stop and open the door. At least those are fixed!
