The plastic just becomes brittle over time and heat cycles. Yes, pushing the engine beyond stock may accelerate the problem, but everyone will have the problem eventually. Of course, someone will now come on and say their 2011 with 200k miles still has its original chargepipe...

Just finished replacing the alternator belt, idle pulley and tensioner. The tensioner is now rock solid. The belt that was on it still looked new though.

I had the X3 aligned yesterday too.

Trying to get rid of a vibration when accelerating hard...

Had new struts, springs and tie rods installed on my 2013 X3. It rides like when I first got it.

Did the alignment actually help?

It helps, the vibration is now gone when accelerating at highway speed. I can still feel vibrations in 1-2-3 gears but less then before.

Guy at the alignment place told me that the tires are unevenly worn, must be the problem.

Cool Ghost Subs

Today I replaced the factory HK subs with Bavsound Ghost Subs 8ohm. I took around 30 mins. to finish the swap and I’m pleased overall with the new sound. The sound is a definable improvement over the stock sound and there’s no distortion at near max volume, they say there’s a 12 hr. break in period so I’ll post back in a few days.

Yesterday I finally installed my FTP charge pipe. A few notes I'd like to share:

- I did not remove the intercooler
- I was able to tighten both clamps from the bottom with the undertray removed
- I installed the lower pipe first, then the upper pipe 2nd
- Removal of the OEM chargepipe was tougher than the FTP pipe installation due to the awkward size of the OEM pipe. The FTP fits quite well with good clearance all around
Overall I would say I am satisfied, however I noticed the FTP chargepipe was a bit loose at the intercooler connection, and I hope this does not cause any boost leaks. Cheers!

Today I installed gloss black kidney grilles and the gloss black "X3"

Had front springs, struts and tie rods replaced on my 2013 X3. The work was done by Lerich Motorsport, Inc. They did a fantastic job. It drives land rides like when I first got it. It has traveled approximately 125,000 miles. Hope to get another 125,000 ....

Goes to show that even low miles charge pipes fail, age is a big factor.

Today I installed a red start button. Originally, it sat with the text 90 degrees to the right, so I had to use a dremel and a small file to get it to fit properly. I am happy!

It took me about 20 minutes to modify the button. All you have to do is dremel our new holes for it to snap in place and dremel two tabs inside the button. If you have small drill bits, a drill, small files, and a dremel you can get it to fit easily.

Well in the span of two days my weekend project complete! Definitely not for the faint of heart, but anything that allows my OCD to express itself I welcome with open arms. Washed, claybarred, buffed and polished with Porter Cable (a mix of Wolfgang and Rupes products) and then ceramic coated with CarPro CQuartz 3.0 UK. My entire body is sore.
