Thanks for sharing - I thought I recalled the F97 could be ordered without them as well.

I looked back to some of my folders and here was an image from 26 Apr 2019 I prepared from the Swiss build site when it first appeared, with and without rails. If you could, alex, please share an image of your X3MC without the rails, as they are a rare species in the wild (at least for us over here in the US).

I looked at the Swiss site and when you build your own vehicle there are no rails by default.

Here are the parts required to remove the rails:

Qty 1 - Roof trim strip left Part# 51137399025
Qty 1 - Roof trim strip right Part# 51137399026
Qty 2 - Clips for roof trim strips Part# 51137441016

When I search that part number, the notes seem to pop up for “without pano roof”.

Did you check Newtis for headliner removal? IIRC, dropping it wasn’t easy. I looked it up for the roof antenna a while back.

Beat me to it, yeah, those were the part numbers I was thinking it was. Looks like it would be about a ~$250 DIY project. I would do it, but I'm not super stoked about having to drop the headliner. Or perhaps, I should say, I would do it if I could just lower it a bit on the sides, but not if I have to remove the whole thing and all of the associated trim pieces.

Here is the thing.
Those part numbers also shows up on roof rails equipped car.
So, my suspicion, those roof trim strip may have holes for the roof rail.
I guess only one way to find out.
Someone order it and give us a feedback.

Unfortunately, I love my roof rail.
Last time I have SUV without roof rail, it looks naked.

My 2 replies are:

1. Cool Story

2. In all seriousness, this is not the right forum or place to ask.

I may be reading 2blu 's question incorrectly, but I thought as he/she was reviving the thread entitled 'Removing the roof rails', that removal was the intent, not re-inserting them?

In case it references the title, there is a thread discussing this: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1784073 . If that wasn't the question, carry on...

Thanks guys, surprised I didn't get flamed for not searching properly prior to my question, I found a ton of info on the subject lol!

My fault I should have been more clear - the DIY will show the process of removal (just have to work backwards).
