Retrofit 8.8" Central Display Screen X3 2011

Hi all,

I want to upgrade my X3s 6.5" screen to an 8.8".

It's a 2011 BMW X3 F25 xDrive20d SE w/ CIC setup, but no Nav or Tel modules.

Does anyone know if this is a doable? Hoping it's as simple as replacing the unit and coding for 1280px output?

Cheers,

J.

I was told by a local AE fitter that it's CIC, just w/o Nav and Tel modules.

The annoying thing is that mine's got a 360 and reverse cameras, but no Bluetooth. Quoted £600 to fit.

I've got an 8.8" display unit from eBay for £70 - worth a shot at fitting.

Hi guys

I *think* replacing the 6.5 with the 8.8 screen should be possible with some coding.

Regarding BT/Tel module, you don't have to fork out £600 for it, if you're prepared to spend a weekend DIYing it.
Bimmertech has the Combox retrofit kit for 600$ - they'll do the coding remote for it once it's installed (included in the price).

So they'll probably be able to do coding of the screen as well - and tell you for sure whether a replacement is possible.

My f25 was similar to yours - i did a retrofit of rear view cam, Smartview and combox 2 years ago. I won't lie - it wasn't just a walk in the park, but absolutely doable. Took 2 days and and Bimmertech support was excellent.

I know it sounds like I'm shamelessly promoting them, but do a search for them in the forum - they've helped a lot of members with retrofitting.

If you manage to progress with the screen replacement please do share - I'd be interested in doing it as well.
