New X3M Soon!

I've received a call this morning to arrange collection of my new X3M next week

Collect on the 14th!

In advance are there any interesting mod's or purchases? I can't imagine that I'll do to much to this car given the amount I did to my 440i.

Any suggest things to code (I use BimmerCode and BimmerLink with a Vgate adapter)?

I'm considering a trunk / boot protector - do I use BMW or aftermarket?

In the UK I am desperate to find someone who can make it sound better without having to do an OPF delete!!

The first 1200 miles is going to be tough, what are the running in rules?

New to the X3 and my first SUV, so any tips over and above an F32 welcome!

Thanks!

Check the manual for the break-in process (2,000 kms), but as someone recently pointed out to me - there's also question about slowly increasing to 5,000 kms before fully pushing the vehicle to its limits...given this is my first M vehicle, I was surprised to read that in the manual because for my previous vehicles, 2,000 kms was the only mileage noted for break-in

I have done it both ways several times and haven't noticed any difference. I have yet to keep a car for more than 2 years and my last 3 only lasted 1 year each so I doubt that I would see any ill effects in those time frames.

I want to keep my latest car longer so I did the break in procedure. Better safe than sorry.

No matter which way you do it,don't let the RPMs stay stagnant such as using cruise control or let it idle for more than a couple of minutes at a time.

Also, never hotrod a car until you have reached proper engine oil and drivetrain temperatures no matter how many miles you have on it and don't do a lot of short trips where the car doesn't come up to temperature and if you do, take it out after every few short trip and run it for a while preferably at a fiesty pace.

Another UK buyer

Since you have a while to wait then download the “BMW Drivers Guide” app to your phone, put in the last 7 digits of your vin and then you can read up and find out how it all works before you pick the car up.

Just checked insurance quotes, what's going on with them! About 3 times more than I paid for previous cars

Maybe it's because insurers don't have any statistics on this model yet....who knows

Having had a previous car stolen years ago(astra gtc-vxr 2 months old) i was with admiral then and couldnt have been any easier to claim and as i was first reg keeper and in first year then i got new car ordered by them to replace it. But lucky they are close in price to the others so i always look to go with them first.

Congrats on the car! I also made a deal this week, plenty of great offers out there. I'm with you on the OPF! I collect mine Friday.
