Tire suggestions.
I am getting new tires soon and I am between the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s or the Pirelli Pzero. Nothing to fear, I am ditching the run-flats.
Suggestions between the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s or the Pirelli Pzero? or any other well performing summer tire?

Bit off the topic, what kind of mileage do you think one will get on a set of summer tires on one of these relatively heavy cars?
Thanks/Bill |

According to my BMW dealer: on the run flats, you would be lucky to get 15k miles out of them. However, on a summer tire (Depending on the actual tread wear rating of the tire compound) you should see about 20k miles with regular driving and closer to 10k-15k miles if you drive aggressively or track the car.
Tread wear and wear patterns vary on what compound the tire is and what company you choose and I am far from a tire expert so take this information with a grain of salt. Just sharing my experiences with these cars.

Thanks. I ran Michelin PS tires on my E39 M-Sport sedan- I rotated every 5 K miles and went thru a set in < 20K miles. I'm not an aggressive driver.
I've got Yoko's on X3; 700+ wear rated all season tire- previous owner installed them. Look like they'll go in excess of 30K. They obviously don't perform like summer tire but ride quality is fine, they run very smooth/quiet at 50% tread remaining. I don't have sport suspension. |

Yea, unfortunately summer tires wear and an exponentially high rate. Had all seasons on my Cayenne Turbo S and got almost 45k out of them!

Conti's: also ran DW's (not dws) in my sedan, nice tire for the money but but quite on par w/Michelin. But this was many years ago and DW model has been improved.

I'm using Bimmercode now to try and disable cold/warm checks on replacing the front turn signals with LED bulbs on my F25. I can't find the FEM in Bimmercode and can't find the ability to turn off the warm/cold checks. Any help?

treadwear of 560 ! this is insane. And they stick even for all season. On my x3 I have some dws06. And my audi, indy 500. Best bang for the buck, specially for the track days. |

Any of you guys lowered on springs?
I have standard suspension and ordered HR Sports springs (28926-1 ). Hopefully install next week.

From what I read on here the lowering springs can totally ruin the feel of the car. Personally I would spend a bit more and get the KW kit.

I was reading this thread …...Longbow64 had the Adaptive suspension so it may feel different than standard. I'll keep my OEM springs and leave the HRs on for a while and report back.

Please do post back. I would like to get rid of the monster truck sitting in my garage! Was thinking about bagging it later down the road

If they make PS4S in the sizes for this vehicle, no question, get the Michelins.
Just make sure you live where it never gets too cold/icy/snowy, or that you have a separate set of winter tires. Cheera |

'14 X3 35i, msport, adaptive suspension- had car about a yr now with the terrible Goodyr LS 2 run flats- felt every bump in road- Decided on non run flats & got 4 Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ at Sams Club installed for $1k (& got new TPMS from Tirerack ). The difference in ride quality is substantial as others have said. Also handles better & less road noise on hwy. Glad i went with non-run flats.
Bought a spare tire/rim from tirerack- a 18" x 8" Enkei rim ( >50% off) & khumo A/S tire to keep in garage as a spare. Cost about $240- not bad price & saved much more than cost of spare by getting non run flats- & have a much improved riding X3. Had a hard time getting non-run flats -as a lot of local tire stores refused to sell non run flats & would only install run flats at $380 - $420 per tire. The costco policy was also nuts as they wouldn't sell me non run flats either unless i had a spare tire/rim & they wanted that spare to be the same size as the tires on car. Argued but got no where with them. So interesting as my porsche's have no spare & seem to get by just fine with regular tires. Last edited by bgrpph; 11-02-2018 at 12:17 AM.. Reason: clarify |

Indy 500 on a x3 is overkill. treadwear of 340, for most user is a bit low. I doubt people will track a automatic suv... Most people wont notice the performance difference between the DWS06 and indy500, and the DWS06 will last longer, treadwear of 560. And depending where you live, DWS06 are a good choice for a weather surprise. (can handle a bit of snow and cold weather). BTW I tried a lot of tires (tracks), and this 18' summer, that was my setup ; dws on the x3 and indy on the audi. I also had dws on the audi, and I swear, there's a difference, but minimal. |

I am going to be getting coil-overs and then will track the car. Think I will go with the Michelin PS 4s just because I want to track it and I just like the look of the tire
Unfortunately I will not like the hole it puts in my bank account

Get the Indy 500 that delivers almost the same performance for much less. You'll be happy you did when the tire starts chunking and you can replace them cheaper. You'll be sad and remember me if you choose the Michelins and lose them after 1 day on track... Cheers |

If you live in Florida like me and drive maybe 15k miles a year.... the Indy 500 are an amazing choice if you want the ultimate street tire. Doing 85mph on the highway in a downpour and they grip better than the OEM tires at 45mph. Dry traction? I've yet to drive fast enough to start hitting the X3's understeer. I would have to hit up Sebring Intl on a test and tune day to see what the actual limits are and when it starts to lose traction and push
