130F20 Exhaust Camshaft: Offset angle to Cranksahft Outside Tolerance

Hello All,

I have been getting intermittent P1339 Error which after restarting the car goes away. Upon checking with ISTA i see 130F20 error Code(130F20 Exhaust Camshaft: Offset angle to Cranksahft Outside Tolerance)
The timing chain was replaced at 66k miles by BMW, the car currently has 98K miles. i did a visual inspection of the timing chain, it was tight enough.
Took the car to many mechanics all said the car was fine & no issues.
Took it to BMW, they said timing chain is stretched & has to be replaced, but i chain is tight enough i cant even move it.

Every time before this warning of P1339, i see a undervoltage on Terminal 15 log. is this causing the P1339 error?

Vehichle takes atleast 15 -20 mins to reach operating temperature of around 190 degree Farenht

Could any one please help?

There is a lower portion of the chain that will get stretched too.

N55 or N20? Ever been over-revved? No motor should have required timing chain replacement at 66K miles. N20 timing chain setup sucks and has extended warranty because of it, up to 100K miles.

I may be misremembering. I don't track N20 stuff too closely.

N20 in time but keeps getting error 130F20 and 130E20

Hey guys I recently changed my timing chain and all. I keep getting the error 130F20 and 130E20 for some reason. Checked my live data, my readings are constant ZERO dead flat. each time i start the car I get a delay ,I have less power, the idle is perfect ! Once I clear the codes while running the light stays off until until when I restart the car again....Could this be an electrical DME issue ? tested the camshaft sensors and they checkout good. Thanks again for your feedback.

Hi,

have you solved this problem? what caused it, what needed to be replaced?

I have a similar problem, I get an error:
130E20: Inlet Camshaft: Angular offset to crankshaft outside tolerance
120408: boost pressure control: shutdown as a following-up reaction

the car runs at reduced power.

Thanks for the help

Hi there, did you manage to solve this issue? Getting the same errors after timing chain replacement and multiple checks of correct timing.

bmw codes 130e20 and 130f20

i watched a you tube video about this exact situation and it says if you have a stretched chain and it you replace it without switching out both the vanos sprockets at the top then you will get these codes 130e20 and/or 130f20

I recently had one of my injectors fail and when i went to reset adaptations after raplacing all 6 the same codes came back im really lost LMAO
