Talking X3m ordered

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Well finally pulled the trigger...at last!

After much deliberation (and searching) finally ordered x3m. After 15mths and 14,000miles ownership I have traded the m40d in for something with a bit more poke lol

Black on black
Comfort Pack
Pan Roof
Sun protection glass
Drivers assistant plus
Parking assistant plus
Bluetooth + charging tray
Apple car play

One of the last high spec x3m in network so I've been told and that we only because it was a cxn order...so lucky!

A little apprehensive, but pretty stoked...sure it will be the latter after the drive home which is 144miles!!

Yes, got 5k equity out my current car too!!

My main concerns are getting used to the ride and the threat of attracting the wrong type of attention, break ins for keys etc

Lol mate.

Thinking of asking dealer to de-badge the rear...what's everyone's thoughts?

Only if they do it for free - not too hard to do yourself with dental floss or fishing line.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I'd worry they would damage it in the process (e.g. trying a trim removal tool).

heat the badge up with a hair dryer or similar and use the fishing line/dental floss technique. Once the badge is off, heat the residue up again and it will peel off like a big bogey

I'd just order the competition badge from the dealer to get the black effect (and not install the "competition").

Was thinking of just leaving the black X3 badge on...sleath look

Thought I'd get hammered for suggesting to take the badge off lol... Spoke to dealer other day who offered me Protect X for 200 quid, to my mind at least it will have a couple months protection for winter, will Autoglym polar coat it too. Come summer prob will get polish prep and ceramic coating.

Black on black is perhaps the closest one can get to Vantablack visuals. Nice! Please post pictures when the vehicle arrives.

If you have protect x then detailer will have to remove it - I would just go straight for ceramic.... it’s quite quiet at this time of year!

How much was the valuation of your M40D?

Just fetched my M5 back from getting the gtechniq treatment - looks better than new although he did commend the dealer on not wrecking the paint when prepping it!

£525 for me but worth every penny in my eyes. He will also do a maintenance wash monthly to keep it that way.

Edited to add - £75 more in the south east sounds about the going rate, I miss Derbyshire for so many reasons...

That sounds a bargain for a pro detailer 👍

My paintwork was in great condition which surprised me.

I detail my own cars and the paint correction was a one stage polish to remove the light marks and then it was perfect.
