Great to start seeing everyone's G01s rolling into the Dealerships (and gas stations!)!

Just a few pictures from this morning of the 'Welcome Light Carpet' which apparently debuted back in 2015 in the 7 series, with an interesting article about the technology: https://newatlas.com/welcome-light-c...ens-bmw/39805/ . A similar design form is found in the interior with the front outer A/C vents and back by the cargo release as well.

Quite the chameleon for sure! It is our same G01, Dark Graphite Metallic, just in different lighting conditions. I've put three of our photos together with one from the BMW Online Owner's Manual (at the top right) which inserts your X3's color into the picture once you provide the VIN (or at least I'm assuming it does, otherwise it would be quite the coincidence). The density of the metallic flakes seems so high and the mirror finish is so well done, it seems it almost never really looks the same! Top left was at the Dealership late afternoon under their in-house lighting, bottom left was 730 AM in the early dawn light, and bottom right is 620PM in the Fall late afternoon sun.

In this video at 54s the head-up display shows a map instead of just directional arrows, is this available in the production version?

That is just an awsome looking colour on your X, very lively and fresh. Not something you will be bored with quickly. Great job, enjoy!

E83 did that and I always thought that was a very well thought out feature.

Edit: I'm guessing not now that there is no seam in the cover.
It was like that in my 2012 x3, but not in my 2015 x3, so they phased it out already.

I don't think so, unless we are missing something obvious. We set a Destination and began Guidance just now to check it out, and the map on the main screen showed immediately with the route and the kind female voice indicated how to proceed, but the HUD just showed a directional arrow and the distance until the turn. Once back in the driveway we looked in iDrive and the display settings for the HUD, but there is no option to check to show the NAV (at least that we could find). So I don't know whether this will turn out to be an early production run issue and therefore something those receiving later versions will be able to receive, or just not available yet? Maybe the CAs at Dealerships can provide more information.

And as an aside for those not experienced with HUDs (we weren't), polarized sunglasses don't work with the HUD as it made the image for her almost completely non-existent. As we enjoyed fishing over the years all of our sunglasses were polarized but she couldn't see the HUD, but she just received her non-polarized FedEx today and they work fine, so just a heads-up (no pun truly intended).

I wasn't sure I would. but the new accords have this matte like dark grayish wood trim that looks amazing in person.

These pics seem to show that same kinda hotness.

Thanks, you should post the fact that the head-up display doesn't work with polarised glasses in the "FYI" thread.

My 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE had a matte plastic wood-pattern trim, it looked nice but it was obviously plastic. I was concerned that this would look like a printed pattern or be otherwise mistaken for something like you'd see in the Toyota, but it looks really nice in person. At least on the 5 series You can feel the texture of the wood.

That's standard fare for HUD, since it is a reflection on the glass, but it is still nice to let people know if they don't already.

I think the sunglasses themselves are also an element, as the direction/angle of the polarization can make a difference. I know people have complained about not being able to see certain center console elements with polarized glasses, but I've never had this kind of problem with my particular glasses.
