Have we missed anything? :) UK 2020 spec X4 M40i

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys. Have been reading this forum for a while, but never posted before. Never owned BMW before, actually.

We (my lovely wife and I) are pulling the trigger on UK spec 2020 X4 M40i (Yaaayyy!). Here it is:

G02 X4 M40i B58 3.0i TU
Flamenco Red / Black with Red contrast stitching / Aluminium fine cutting
M Sport Plus Package (Adaptive / Shadow Line extended content / Dynamic Safety / Sun protection / M seat belts / 20" Non-RFT 699)
Technology Package (HUD / HK / Wireless charging / Gesture Control / WiFi preparation)
Panoramic glass sunroof
Lumbar support
Driving Assistant Plus / Galvanic stuff
Parking Assistant Plus
CarPlay

Question to you guys - are we overenthusiastic with options? Or other way, maybe we missed something important? Opinions welcome. And than you!

Looks like a good spec to me. I'm more familiar with the X3 spec but our spec is close to what I'm doing for my X3. I'm not getting the tech package though.

I've noticed the wheel / tyre spec...then checked the configurator. The X3 too now has the option for - 20" Bicolour Orbit Grey Double-spoke style 699 M light alloy wheels with performance tyres - are performance tyres non-RFT? Sounds like a good option, although "only" 20 inch the 699 wheels are more stylish to my eyes. It's the 21 inch wheels that were bugging me, I find them a little busy looking. What a great change!

My X3 M40i Spec - main difference aside from colours is my heated rear seats & your Tech Pack:

Glacier Silver
Tartufo Merino
M Sport Plus (699s....yes!)
Lumbar support
Front and rear seat heating
Panoramic roof
Parking Assistant Plus
Driver Assistant Plus

Yes, Performance tyres are non-RFT. Since extended shadow line gets rid of other Cerium Grey bits, did not want 21" 718 M style wheels, which only come as RFTs. So, more style and comfort, in my opinion, with 699 M non-RFTs

And congrats!

Congrats to you too for your upcoming order. I plan to place mine Monday or Tuesday.

I totally agree about the wheels.

Should be lower unsprung weight too.

You know, Clivem, we added the Tech package the last. Never saw Head Up display in action, so we went to dealer another time just for that My wife liked it, and since it was close to no-compromise configuration already, it was emotional choose to go for it too. Just saying...

Haha, yes I've used that argument on myself...have you considered Merino leather? Just to raise your tech pack bid!

I would love a heated steering wheel but I don't want the comfort package - especially not the locking system which is so helpful to thieves.

Exactly our thinking on Comfort pack - don't want give thieves comfort access to our car. Crossed our.

On the merino leather, I am not allowed to consider anything to do with interior / exterior colours and style. This is my lovely wife's prerogative (since she allowed me to select the model and this ENGINE! )

But to be honest, I am happy with the choice of colours. Red stitching on black, with red car completed with all shadow line elements, will look classy.

Comfort access on new BMWs is now virtually theft proof as proven in recent tests by industry bodies.

The keys signal stops sending after 1 min of inactivity / movement of the key, rendering the signal bumping technique useless.

In a recent test by whatcar, not a single car with this tech was able to be stolen: https://www.whatcar.com/news/car-the...rs-2019/n19874

I am in the USA and will be ordering a 2020 X4M40i in the next few weeks. Love the Flamenco Red and will be ordering with the Cognac Leather. If you haven't seen this interior take a look before you do the black. Just my 2 cents

Thanks DTRJ, and congrats on your soon to be placed order. Have not seen full interior in that colour, but on the small sample, my wife was unimpressed. Light leather colours was our initial choice, but them seeing so many cars samples taking stains from jeans, even still sitting new in the showrooms, wanted to go for something of lower maintenance

No worries.

I was concerned too when ordering mine but it looks like BMW made the change in late 2018..

I’ve ordered with the comfort pack for my incoming 2020 X3 m40d

If not standard for you, I'd order acoustic side front windows.

It's good to know about comfort access security, thanks SoulT.

Can someone explain the difference between 790M wheels and 699M? Both are 20" Bi-colour grey double spoke light alloy. 790M has RFTs and 699M has "performance tyres" (ie non-RTF). The 699M come as a 720 GBP option though "free" on the M Sport Plus pack. Are the two wheel types the same but just with different tyres? 720 GBP seems a lot for standard tyres or are the performance tyres very special?

I agree it's important, I've heard 1st hand how good it is. It is standard for my order.

@ Meantime - Sounds similar spec to mine albeit the 2019 spec and the M40d as found the M40i very loud on starting and didn't want to upset my neighbours..lol
Also the MPG of course...

I think it’s a mistake, 790M’s are G20 18” wheels!

I think the £720 extra is due to the higher first year’s VED, the non rft’s push the CO2 up by 2 or 3 g/km

I have a question about the Comfort Package. This include the heated steering wheel. Is heating available with the M Sport steering wheel or will heating downgrade the steering wheel?

Another question - the M40i and M40d get the Extended Speaker upgrade. Does anyone know how much this brings vs HK? There seems to be a speaker in the mirror housings.

No it's a heated M Sport wheel.

I doubt the extended speaker pack is much better than the base system, so if you like listening to music at all then definitely best to go HK.

In fact with HK & HUD being part of the technology pack now, it makes the technology pack a no brainer!

I have the HUD and HK ... and would not be without either - especially the HUD which is simply awesome !

The HK sound is just about perfect for the car and the adjustment good. It is better than the HK in my old M240i that's for sure !
