Megan Racing Coilover Install
Hello!
Spent much more time than i'd like to admit yesterday installing these. The car is very slammed with no wheel gap at all so I will be playing with it today to get it to where I like. The car feels amazing! Took a few 90 degree turns at 45mph and the car just did it no problem. Really is a point and shoot steering now. You can definitely tell it has coilovers though. I did set the dampers to as hard as I could just because I wanted it to ride similar to my 911 and damn she does. A few problems I ran into: -Snapped a bolt on the front passenger side top hat. Going to have to drill it out and buy new bolt. -Threads on the bolt for the rear driver side lower control arm were totally pooched. I think it just really didnt want to come out but the air gun forced it. Going to buy new bolt because the nut would no longer thread on -Could not find proper torque specs for the suspension. I gave everything a healthy amount of Ugha-Dugas in the mean time. If someone could link those that would be great. -Car is flipping a shit because the sensors for EDC are no longer connected. going to have to code the car and tell it everything is okay. Getting an alignment today and then I will grab my camera and post some pics on here! Instagram sees them first!

This is link to the rear axle overview. Choose the link you need and will be routed to specific manual with link to torque specs. You can find same data for the front axle on this site too. |

Pics!
Been crummy weather in FL lately, have not had a good day to break out the camera and do a proper photo shoot. You can go to instagram for a little higher quality pics!

I have them set to as stiff as I could. You feel the road to say the least and you can tell it is stiff. It's not great but its certainly tolerable. Body roll is almost totally gone and the car feels much less like a boat. I drove an F30 on lowering springs and it feels comparable to that with regards of ride quality and turn in.

Update: Removed EDC module and coded out the faults.
All is well and no more codes!

Thanks man! Going to get some spacers in the near future because the inside of the wheel is a little close to the suspension for my comfort.
Thinking of 20mm rear and 18mm front

I just have the sensors ziptied up and tucked behind the wheel well liner.
What I will do with the factory struts and springs I am not sure. Maybe try to sell but I can not imagine there is much demand for them. Going to try and sell my VDC module aswell

Was thinking about painting/powder coating them or just buy OEM black ones but I cant find ones specifically for X3

No complaints really. Ride good and handle good. I have them set very stiff because that's how I like it but you can adjust how you like.

for the fronts, did you have to remove windshield wiper cowls and strut brace to access the top nuts to release the oem suspension?

no. Just undo the bolt that holds each end to the strut top hat and you're good to go.
