I love the car, only thing I hate is the run flat tire. Complete broken and worn out after 45K km.. Changed to regular tires.
One more hate: the window should be closed automatically when you lock the car... |

What is it with German automakers and run flat tires? They really do suck.

Wow, I'd love to get that many km/mi out of RFTs. I had to replace mine not long after 15k miles...to get over 25k miles on them would have been amazing.

If that was purely the reason, then they would provide cheaper non-runflats to non German specific built vehicles. |

The first set of RFT's on a previous X3 a 2015 model I achieved 27,000 miles, and I have a heavy right foot, so it is possible

RFTs I feel are mostly about convenience when you get a puncture but for they may be a little safer in certain circumstances. I wonder what the incidence of blowouts is? In well over 1 million miles of driving I've not had one. Maybe there are others with over 1 million miles who've had several. If safety and blowouts are such a concern I'd advocate driving slower than 100 mph. Nowadays in the UK such speeds are only momentarily achieved, sustained very high speeds will quickly result in a holiday from driving. TPMS is the more important safety feature but RFTs in the right situation might just be important too.

I've had one flat tire while driving in over 40 years. I always rotate my tires and watch for wear and maintain proper air pressure. In the one instance, I hit road debris at 40 mph and my tire deflated in probably 15 seconds, so technically not a blowout. When my time is up with RFT I'll go conventional all season and stow a tire plug kit and compressor.

Driving from sunlight into shade, the whole dash dims to an extent where the info is illegible. that includes speed, range in miles, time, temperature, Sat Nav, and Reversing camera, this list goes on and on, I am totally fed up with it but have to accept it as others have on this forum have, BMW know of the problem but won't do sod all about it
If everyone did complain about it maybe BMW would do something about it |

My #1 complaint is the currently nerfed ID7 which is missing command start among other things like voice activated climate controls.
My #2 complaint is the less than stellar speech recognition. I wanted to find the nearest A@W restaurant, but it was hopeless asking BMW assistant for that. It either wanted to change the radio to AM or thought I was saying BMW. The microphones are very susceptible to wind noise and require yelling at times. My #3 complaint is the velcro hooks for floormats. That is the cheapest and crappiest way to secure a floormat. VW has excellent mat hooks in their cars. Why on earth BMW uses such a cheap method? I know it 'works', but it still seems cheap. Velcro wears out, then what? My #4 complaint is the hard plastic backs of the front seats. When I put something like my tablet in the netting behind the passenger seat, I don't like the hard plasticky feel. My #5 complaint is poor fitment of body panels compared to something like a Toyota. It's like when the vehicles are assembled, they strive for 'good enough' rather than 'perfect'. Questionable fitment of side window trim that seem a bit loose. Even my Z4 which isn't manufactured by BMW has fitment issues. The gas door was not even flush with the rear quarter panel and the dealer had to use a heat gun to fix it. I still really like my X3 M40i, no regrets. No vehicle is going to be perfect. Most of these are minor gripes. Rob |

Couple of things that i don't like, wouldn't go as far as to say i hate them
1. Why the interior lighting on the dash/stereo turns orange at night. Give me the option to stick with the white!! 2. Why I cant configure the instrument clusters...meaning - i always drive in 'Sport' as i prefer the look of the instrument clusters compared to Comfort and Eco. 3. Why the interior lighting is a yellow/white colour instead of an LED White. |

After driving the 2020 30e for 2 weeks, here're few things I already hate:
1.) All the default piano black inlays... what a terrible idea to put that in a car to collecting finger prints and dust. 2.) The all digital Live Cockpit Pro screen that doesn't provide much configure options and looks super flat, like the 2019 version with physical rings better. 3.) The narrow opening of the rear passenger doors. |

Another annoyance is the rattles my X3 M40i has with not even 2000kms on the ODO. I've already had it in twice for the rear B pillar making squeak noises, but have to take it in again for even more parts to be thrown at it. There's a minor rattle in the passenger door and a more pronounced rattle in the driver door (or fender or skirt, not found yet).
I really hope this thing doesn't turn into a rattle trap when it gets colder. Rob |
