Thule Vertex Bike Carrier

Hi,

Does anyone have a Thule Vertex bike carrier on their X3 m40i? If yes, how do you like it?

Not that one but I use a VeloCompact 3 bike carrier (with 4th bike adaptor) on my tow bar on an M40i and no issues. Can upload a pic if needed.

Funnily enough I've just been looking at Thule tow bar bike carriers for my M40i as well ... the Velo Compact 925 for 2 bikes looks ideal for me

If you can post a pic of it on the X3 that would be great !

I have a Thule Easyfold. Mounted in 2 min, fits in the trunk. It is great.
careful if you are going to carry e-bikes. Vertical weight admitted is 75 kgrs for the tow bar.

Did you have to buy the 13 pin adapter for these carriers as they seem to be 7 pin ?

Looking at XT2 but it is a lot dearer ...

It surely is, but if you lack of space, it is worth it.

No adapter needed, fitted without issues a working perfectly. And the tilt is just incredible.

I want to remind everyone, that once you plug something to the towbar, you lost some of the driving assistance systems (lka, lca, bsm, rear pdc)

I have this RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack. I love it, and it was quite a bit cheaper than the comparable rack from Thule. Very sturdy, super easy to use. It doesn't touch the frame of the bike at all. Also, if you find it cheaper somewhere else E-trailer will match the price.

Are you guys using the EU-type towbar which is retractable? I have read that some towbar does not protrude long enough from the bumper which does not allow sufficient clearance for the rear hatch to open even when the Thule bike rack is tilted.

I use the Thule Easyfold with the retractable towbar/hitch and there’s no clearance issue. Once the rack and bikes have been tilted the rear can be opened without an issue.

The EU towbar is rather swivelling than retracting. This is how it looks like with Thule EasyFold XT3 when folded down. Very impressive a handy!

Thank you!

Thanks for posting this thread, still useful information after some years.
Have an iX3 2022 M Sport and was looking at a few Thule tow bar bike racks to mount 2 e-bikes. Awesome!
