Talking Show Me Your Tips

So I can't be the only one seeing reviews of the X3M and then not desiring more from the back-end of the M40i. Need to flex on those base Macans w/ sport tail-pipes. Based on the X3M & M40i order sheets, both have the M Sport Exhaust System (1MA) however the stock muffler / tips look different on each (from what I can see in pics). The way I see it, you can upgrade: 1) tips or 2) muffler/tips or 3) diffuser/muffler/tips. Any thoughts? Have people already upgraded anything here for the M40i -- if so, can you share?

It looks like you'd have to change the rear valance too...the cutout on the M40i is smaller than the X3M, wouldn't have space for the dual tips

I think the tips on the M40i are fine once a new diffuser is swapped in. I have no real desire for quad tips since that is typically a true M vehicle trait and should remain as such IMHO.

Agreed. Plus I still appreciate the distinction between the X3M and the M40i

I actually like the shape of the m40i tips. I wish it wasn't so noticeable that it cones into a smaller tube. But the dual tips do look really good. Vendors really need to start pumping some aftermarket exhausts. X3 M40i has been out for a while now.

Ya I get that too. I got my M40i before the X3M came out and de-badged it -- which was "cool" when it was the top trim. Now that the X3M is out is has the opposite effect because people may thing I am trying to represent the X3M especially doing things like changing the exhaust, cerium delete, etc. Can't win ... however I REALLY prefer regular circular tips

I think the dual exhaust looks better than the quad. Maybe it’s just the Audi guy in me because S cars have quad and RS cars have Dual.

I am new to BMW but I don’t understand why people care about what others care so much about “appearing” to have a different model whether it be “debaging” or making their car looking too much like a “real M car”.

I also love those Quad tips, but as others had mentioned, I don't want to be accused of X3M wannabe...

If you like round tips, how about those huge diameter fat single exhaust tips?
