2013 X3 xDrive28i with 98K

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to buy a 2013 X3 with around 98k milage, one owner and no accident/damage reported on AutoCheck, I wanted to see if X3 owners who kept their cars past 100k milage would recommend buying a X3 with 98k milage on it.

I'm mostly concerned about the mechanical issues that reportedly start to happen after 100k, please advise from your experience. What should I be prepared for since manufacturer warranty already expired? Is it a must to have third party extended warranty coverage for BMWs with 100k+ mileage?

Also, I noticed on the AutoCheck report of this X3 the following:

Event Date: 11/19/2015
Odometer Reading: 12,858
Data Source: Independent Repair Center
Details: ENGINE SERVICED
BRAKES SERVICED

Event Date: 05/14/2016
Odometer Reading: 15,647
Data Source: Independent Repair Center
Details: ENGINE SERVICED
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SERVICED

Event Date: 01/16/2019
Odometer Reading: 36,046
Data Source: Independent Repair Center
Details: MULTIPLE POINT VEHICLE INSPECTION
ENGINE SERVICED
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SERVICED

Does that "ENGINE SERVICED" mean the engine had an issue and it was fixed/serviced ? Or when other engine related parts/components are fixed/serviced some mechanics shop list them as "Engine Serviced" into AutoCheck or CarFax ?

Please shed some light!

Thanks!!

2013 X3 28i probably has the N20 self destructing engine due to timing chain system failure. Stick with the 35i unless 2015+ 28i.

For max reliability+repair costs, especially since it looks like you're coming from a Honda, stick to 2011 or 2012 X3 xdrive28i. They have the 6 cylinder N52.
When other engine related parts/components are fixed/serviced some mechanics shop list them as "Engine Serviced" into AutoCheck or CarFax. That's usually the case.
