Dinan Stroker Reliability or Other Stroker Recommendations?
Good day, all. I had some questions regarding Dinan S65 reliability. I've seen a few members have had them over the years, but I mean no offense when I say that the members I've seen with them seem like the type of people only to take their cars out on the weekend and baby them. Are there any members that can give a statement on long term reliability or reliability of any other stroker builds?
Over in the S85 community, Dinan does not have the best reputation, as there were a lot of engine failures in the beginning and it appears as though Dinan didn't properly know how to bore the alusil which led to premature engine failures. On top of this issue, a handful of people said Dinan refused to warranty the failures. Not inspiring confidence. Curious to see what people have to say. |

On top of all of that you’ll spend $35K for 50 hp if you go Dinan. Just get Harrop.

As much as I lol’d at the answers in this thread OP did not ask about blowers. Yes $35k is a lot for 50hp but maybe someone wants to stay N/A

The implication that the only strokers are in cars that are babied is likely offensive and doesn’t inspire a “help me” tone. So there’s that. Secondly those with direct experience are probably tired of answering the same question. Use the search.
There are strokers in plenty of track oriented cars and or pure track machines. Yes they come with either additional maintenance and or a gamble on longevity if you’re not going to follow frequent rebuilds. Good luck, let us know where you land!

As far as VAC, I have seen multiple threads/comments in the past of engine failure. Last edited by IanMan; 04-30-2023 at 11:42 PM.. |

e-megatronic in bridgeport ct can also build you an engine, it wouldnt hurt to reach out and get an estimate and some info from him.

I was pretty active here for about 10 years and what I read would cause me to share IanMan’s reservations about stroker motors that will be put to the test (driven hard or tracked over tens of thousands of miles).

Leave it stock and the engine is bulletproof. There are many examples of stock engines running forever while abused on track. Why mess with a good thing?
If going fast on track is what you want, you'll get much better lap times with other modifications than adding more power.
