with how all their vehicles have grown, this is nothing more than a new x5m. its the size of the first gen x5. pretty soon we'll see an X2M as well.

cant wait for the special limited individual 30 jahre 1/4672930574 ZCP CS GTS model

Does not sound like a S55 at all which is great news! Listen to the Alpina B3/4 with the TT N55, sounds very similar and more classic BMW straight-six. Either they recalibrated the S55's wastegate software or possibly they use a new S58 based on the B58 modular engine.

If it's not an S55, then it better be an S58. I don't see the B58 nor the N55 cracking 400hp soon which is the least they need if they are going to properly compete with the upcoming 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63. Not to mention, they need to offer a compelling upgrade to their own 355hp M40i M Performance models.

I'm really looking forward to the G01.

An F97 on a G platform? Why not call it the G97?

Not to mention the Macan Turbo.

My money would be on some sort of 'S58' as well.

I wonder if they will just go with traditional ///M suspension and/or have a full air option as well, like the Macan?

That's what confuses me. Doesn't it have to be 400hp plus?
Also what's the price point? around the M3? $75k? Now people that need awd have an option.

And per a family hauler, caveat, you and your spouse are less than 5-10.

The intro is amazing. I had an e46 M3, met my wife (then girlfriend), traded on an e92 M3, got married and then had two boys. I've still got the e92 but needed something practical for daily driving duty - enter the Q5 3.0T.

Looks like a good option to me!

The current X3 35i M Sport with dynamic handling is already a pretty fun package especially for a small SUV. It doesn't compete with the big boys on horsepower but I seriously considered getting one. New X3M could have potential.

Right, that's what I mean. 400hp is a bare minimum, but my expectation is no less than the current M3/M4.

I would expect a premium above an M3 similar to what an X3 costs above the equivalent 3 Series model.

Pretty sure the current X3 is cheaper than the same engine 3 series, or maybe the same price.

But all the talk of premium interior I wouldn't be surprised if it does cost a little more.

I would expect it to be under $80k nicely optioned (no ceramic).

this spec'd out will be definitely around 80k and could go far into six figures after bmw individual and options and special packages like a comp package.

Sounds like an engine from the M2 LCI whatever that means.

Let's ask Google (you're even allowed to do it more than once per day).

330i $38,750
X3 28i $39,250

340i $47,900
X3 35i $47,950

These are true base prices, not spec'd out with normalized options/equipment. But as you can see there is a small premium for the SUV in base form. And these are current generation vehicles obviously - we don't know for sure how the Gxx equivalents will compare. Note that in the case of the I6 models, the SUV has AWD while the sedan does not. Still, since we are certain the X3M will have AWD, it's a near guarantee it will start higher than the base price for the M3.

Always liked the SQ5...until I had drove one. The ride was terribly stiff over frost heaves. To me, my F80 in Sport Plus mode feels more compliant. I hope the upcoming generation SQ5 has a much more advanced suspension. However, even if it is, it's doubtful it could match the sweet engine sound of this X3M.

Any ideas on when this may be released??

Can't work out if I'd rather this or another F80...

I've had numerous very fun cars (AMGs, Ms, 911s), and I still regret not keeping my old loaded 2011 X3 35i with M-Sport Pkg at lease term end. It was a really great daily driver for all around utility and pleasant driving. Would give serious consideration to an X3M at the end of my F80 lease term.
