Winter Wheels

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
So we collected our new X4M yesterday and I'm struggling to find a reasonably priced winter set up here in the UK. One of the issues is that as the car is so new hardly anyone has played with different set ups, first winter since it was launched I think. If you ask BMW the only set up they will officially sell is the 20" non comp set up and the best price on that is around £3500.

I've got some aftermarket companies looking for me but they are equally cautious so it would be great to know what other people have fitted especially those that don't "officially" fit, I think I've seen a guy with 695's (Waterbelly) on his. It's interesting that the X4M appears to have M5 front discs but smaller calipers and the official BMW winter set up is a 19" arrangement.

Many thanks

Dave

I'm also looking for winter wheels for my X4M 40d. Per BMW UK website they have six winter wheel set-up that will fit my X4M starting at £665 each for: At this time 20% off all accessories (until 12-2), so a competitive price.

19" light alloy wheel Y-spoke style 694 at a glance:
TPMS winter complete wheel
wheel dimensions: 7.5J x 19 OSt:32
wheel colour: Ferric Grey
tyre size: 245/50 R19 105V XL RSC
tyres: Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 r-f
suitable for use with snow chains
includes: one wheel with tyre, TPMS sensor and hub cap, mounted/balanced

In addition - Mr Winter Wheels is selling the below: It's not on their website but they sent me an email with this option.

19" Diewe Alito in grey.
Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 r-f

for about 2K. 5% off for Black Friday.

19's seem like they would be a tight fit over the front calipers. I went with 20x8.5" Alutecs which, for the price, is a decent wheel. They were the cheapest 'pressure cast' wheel I could find: low pressure cast, made in Poland.

I've heard that the 19" wheels will be tight and some 19's won't fit. BMW and Mr Winter believe the above wheels will fit, for what that is worth?
I would prefer the below 20" BMW wheels but the cost starts to creep up at £825 each. The 20% off at this time helps but still expensive.

20" light alloy wheel Y-spoke style 695 at a glance:
TPMS winter complete wheel
wheel dimensions: 8J x 20 offset: 27
wheel colour: black matt
tyre size: 245/45 R20 103V XL
tyres: Pirelli Scorpion Winter
includes: one wheel with tyre, TPMS sensor and hub cap, mounted/balanced

694's are very nice mate, I almost went for them and probably would have if 20% was available. The 20"s do get pricey as the tyres are a fair amount more.

This is what I went with for my X3MC. Very happy.

I thought your post said 695’s and not 694’s

Gritty

I think you would get away with some designs of 19” on an M40d but the discs are about two inches larger on the X3/4M

Tommyj,

The 695's maybe a good option for you at 20% off thru Dec 2nd?

Yes - 695s. That is what Gritty is citing in his second post, which I quoted. They are 20", no fitment issues at all. For some reason the staggered sets with summer tires are way more expensive than the square sets with winder tires (at least in the US). The square set is a real bargain for winter.

Off course the 19" 694 fit the M40i/d - otherwise BMW wouldn't sell it. And as a matter of fact I just get them mounted on my X4 M40d and they fit perfectly besides on the skinny side; but for winter driving they will do the job
