I have the BMW cargo mat, and I think it's OK (I have the spare donut). I'm also going to wait and see what Weathertech will have. They're supposed to be coming out with fitted cargo mats any day now.

Just got my Canvas Back cargo liner and installed - looks and fits great. The rails are covered but the liner lifts up for access. I did not get the side covers.

Here are photos, although they're not very good. Took me about 5 mins to install and I didn't work hard to get out wrinkles, but I'm sure they'll smooth out if you take a little time. As I said, fit is very good.

BTW, haven't tried, but looks like the Canvas Back logo can be removed fairly easily - it's a rectangle stitched on with thread.

I spoke to someone at Weather Tech this week and she said the cargo liner for the G01 is in development and is probably another month to month and a half out.

Meh, they said "6-8 weeks" the last time they were asked (in March -- see post #21). Given how the 2018 model year is about up, I'll believe it when I see it.

I've gotten used to the BMW cargo mat, and so I'll probably stick with it.

Weathertech finally released their G01 cargo mat, with optional bumper protector. I ordered one, as it seems to have better spillguard edges. If it's anything like their floor mats, the rubber will be thin but sufficient (the BMW cargo mat is decently thick).

When I select no spare tire it says the liner doesn't fit. Must still be waiting to release that version.

OK, got my Weathertech cargo mat w/bumper protector. Fit is pretty good, but they (currently) only have the mat available for cars with the donut. Pics are from an x30i, but the M40i should be the same.

The bumper protector is attached via snaps, and rolls up when not in use. A center strip of velcro keeps the protector rolled up. The material seems adequately thick enough against light scratching, but provides no padding against any sort of impact. Sharp edges and points will likely cut and poke holes in this material. I'd also guess that dog toenails will probably shred it over the long term.

Note that the bumper protector causes the hatch edge of the mat to be lower; because of this, any liquid spills will likely leak in that direction. I think that edge is raised maybe 1/4" (ish).

Also note that the raised edge next to the seats further emphasizes that edge when you fold down the seats.

Bottom line: I think the mat is worth it, but I'm not sure about the bumper protector.

Always suntek paint protection film on the rear bumper.

Can we assume any cargo mats cut to size for 2018 are going to work in the 2019 model? I want to prepare ahead of time and get things ordered. Thank you

Will you have runflats and no spare tire? It won't fit if you don't have spare.

I have the spare tire - this is definitely going on my shopping list.

Cargo Mat

The factory cargo mat is fine if you want to protect the carpet. It does preclude the use of the sliding rail tie holds. The raised edge also makes it awkward for placing boxes or other items where you want to stack items from side to side against the cargo area walls. I use it when I'm carrying something that might be messy. Otherwise, I hand it in the garage and use my old Gorilla Gear items with Velcro bottoms - these stick fairly well to the carpet, although overuse will likely result in carpet fuzz.
