bmw canada is a special place

-Yesterday a rep told me my car was done production
-Today a different rep told me he doesnt even know if my car started , basically he has no info

My SA sent me an email this afternoon saying that my car was now "handed over" and is at status 82. I assume that is 182. The ETA is December 23rd. But since the dealership is closed that Saturday, he expects a delivery date of later this month.

Unless it is going by truck, based upon others' experiences, I am still betting on a January delivery.

We must have had the same guy. He couldn't look up details without my production number despite others doing with my VIN. *shakes head*

I am sure that they are going to press hard to deliver as many units as possible before December 31. I have heard that they may truck units up. It costs more and is not as green, but sales targets can be unforgiving.

I had an early LCI E53 built on December 4. They were not able to get it PDI'd on time. So they asked me to bring in my old car (leased) sign the paperwork for the new one and essentially take delivery as it sat in the dealer's lot. They then provided me with a loaner until my car was ready almost a week later.

Both of our cars would normally travel by rail to Montreal, then be trucked to the dealer. The people in the GTA have theirs go by rail to Concord. The rail connection to Toronto seems to be more frequent than to Montreal. So we may see more vehicles get delayed or bunched.

I'm going to call BMW tomorrow, just to see what they say. At this point, there info isn't reliable in any way, shape or form.

That said, I'm seeing my dealer on Saturday and will ask for more details. I don't want to keep hounding him.

There's an interesting situation I'm in with this. The finance manager is on vacation from the 22nd through to January 2nd and she does the PDI work. That said, surely they have to have someone who can step in if they're doing sales between the 26th and the 29th to deliver in December...

If not then it'll be after the 2nd, but I am hoping the updates to Ottawa and Montreal means that the delivery happens by the 22nd to the dealer.

My rail car is now in Bellevue, Ohio as of today. It was in Fostoria on Dec 12. It's not moving very fast.

Actually i don't know the specific time frame but i do remember at week 47, the status change to transit. so it takes almost 3 weeks arrived

So I am still in 190 status. My sales rep is saying he’s hoping that we’ll have it between December 27th and 29th. He says once it’s in 194, then he can get it rushed.

Picked up the car.
I didn't select digital display, but it's pretty much all digital except the numbers on speedo and tachometres.
Panoramic roof is HUGE.

A few more thoughts after driving a few hours today:
1. I am not that impressed with storage spaces.
My old VW had
2 storages below centre air vent
1 coin storage (huge enough so I put all other stuff too)
1 separate glass storage
1 small storage in centre console
1 separate store in driver's door to store umbrella
1 centre armrest

X3 has only 1 storage in centre console + 1 centre armrest.
The Canadian version (not sure others) doesn't even have any pocket/net
at the back of driver/passenger seat.
No net/separator in the side storages in cargo space as well.

2. I haven't found any hard drive or media storage yet. I thought there would be 20GB hard drive....not a big deal as I use my phone or USB most of the time anyway.
Edit: Found the way.

3. Screen mirroring? I saw it was supported in a youtube, but I can't find the way to do it.

4. The parking sensors are a bit too sensitive - I know there is still plenty of space but the sensors start screaming.

5. I love the ambient lighting and the carpet lighting.

6. I like the fact that there is a sliding cover for the centre storage and cupholders. My old car didn't have one, and after a few years the cupholders were full of garbage things.

7. I love the screen and iDrive.

8. Dashboard is beautiful. Instrument panel is beautiful. I love the interior quality and I enjoy seeing that sculpted lines on the hood when I drive. Most of all, car is beautiful, and despite of being 30i, it is so much fun to drive. These are the main factors that matter.


The black rims are replica 18" for winter tires.
I will update/post more findings as I drive more.

On the hard drive, have you inserted a CD in the drive? When you do so, it should ask if you want to copy it.

You are right, I was looking for a term like 'storage' or 'hard drive', but it's actually 'media collection'..thanks!

Did you order the Storage Compartment Package of $400? It’s an option in Canada or you need to order the Ultimate Package.
In the Netherlands it’s standard, it includes; luggage nets on front seatbacks and in passenger-side footwell; cargo area items include luggage net on left side; 2 cargo rails with 4 fastening points, a reversible mat, and a multi-purpose hook and a tensioning strap on each side. Power outlets in front center console storage compartment, rear center console, and in trunk.
