I chose different upholstery and took the opportunity to add another couple of options. Surprised and delighted to be contacted today to be told my car has arrived in the UK and will soon be en route to the dealer. I must admit that’s quicker than I expected given the need to ship the vehicles across the Atlantic.
I think diesels are not a big problem due to the drop in uk demand it is the petrol engines and some components eg m sport steering wheels in the US that are in short supply. I am just waiting to be told that price is going up and they will have to cut the trade in offer plus M3 will be due a service if delay is pushed into the Summer. May have to think of something else.

I have bought lots of cars from the dealer over the years and they have been great, perhaps worrying unnecessarily will wait and see.

A quick question about changing a custom order. I know it is possible to make small changes until the car goes in production. But is it also possible to change the engine from 20i to 30i? Or are slots based on a production spot for a certain engine?

My car has departed plant and waiting for a boat over. Was advised yesterday to expect delivery mid March. Some are already in the UK as mentioned earlier. I suspect most will wait until 1st March to take delivery in order to get the 2018 plate.

Can’t speak for petrol engine models, but my 2.0 D M Sport is in the UK now and available for uplift on 2 March 2018! (Initially ordered on 23/11/2017 and order modified 4/01/2018).

Spoke to dealer yesterday and still no word on delivery date. It would appear that new WLTP testing procedure which comes in later in the year is causing a lot of problems. BMW seem to be ceasing production of a number of models in the coming months earlier than might have been the case until new models arrive.

Under the new tests fuel consumption and emissions results are likely to be worse particularly for turbo engines.

Presumably some of the BMW petrol engines are not doing as well as expected and modifications are required.

NICHT? German translation of caption under picture:

Getting a BMW X3 20i or 30i does not seem easy at the moment: BMW has stopped the delivery, 3,000 cars should be affected. The reason is the conversion to Otto particle filter for model year 2018.

The article says that there have been problems with the exhaust system. And that they are therefore replacing all of the exhaust systems on the already built cars before delivery. Apparently something "mechanical" with the supports.

lets hope they get this under control soon. Don't want to wait so long

Thanks. Not long now for either of us. I ordered back in October, it's been a long wait.

Just noticed you are coming from a 335d. I have a 330d (with ACS) - it has been an excellent car.

I wonder if we will miss them???

Look forward to hearing how your delivery goes.
