Has anyone noticed if the sun visors in the UK are plastic or cloth? Are they covered in nanny warnings about airbags? If I buy an X3, and "clean" sun visors are available in Europe I will order a pair through a friend.
Thanks |

However it took me literally 10 minutes to remove these from my last 2 cars X5 and M2. Just order some running alcohol (I used eBay) soak some kitchen paper in it and wrap this in cling film intro the offending yellow monstrosity. It will then literally peel off, a few tiny bit ls remain, run these off. I'm hopeless at diy mods but this was easy. No need to remove the visor either! It might not be for you and you still might want to burn £50 on a euro visor but it's honestly not really worth it.

UK Delivery
I traded my 2011 F25 20d SE in for a 30d M Sport G01 - picked it up on Thursday 30th. Not been able to take it out for a decent run yet so only done 50 miles so far but it really does drive well and looks good. Got the Phytonic blue with Oyster leather and sunroof to brighten up the interior. A major step up from the F25.
Didn’t bother with the extended storage option but was surprised to find that meant I didn’t get the remote seat latches at the back so still have to lean over to put them down - no major issue for me though. Let me know if you want to know anything - like I now know what the “extended” means for Oyster leather !! |

Some photos of the X3 - the Oyster leather "with extended" is shown - the oyster colour is extended below the dash. Nice effect, I think.
I also added the full digital dash - if you do that I really wouldn't bother with the heads up as the dash shows all the info you need, including Nav details when you get to a junction etc. I also got the acoustic glass - so much quieter than the old F25, and that wasn't too bad IMO. Pretty impressed so far. btw - the dealer's price wasn't too spectacular for the F25 p/ex, but it was about what I expected, having checked out WBAC etc. I ordered early August, so I think I was the first order they had for the G01 - so I managed to negotiate a little bit but, of course, they now offer the usual finance deposit contribution, which helps. Also, I was told that delivery would be launch day - 11/11 - but that was delayed for nearly three weeks, with no real explanation. Finally picked it up on the 30th. Better than when I got the F25 - the tsunami hit Japan and delayed the F25 delivery because, I believe, the paint and gearbox chip factories were affected. As for the car - I've still only done 100 miles, but its been a sheer pleasure. Got a long run this coming weekend with possible snow forecast for the SE of England - should be fun !! |

Nice - classy combination there. Starting to have second thoughts about colour now. Have gone Sophisto Grey --> Phytonic Blue --> Carbon Black. Spec is locked down now so no point worrying!

Very nice color combo. I almost went with blue over oyster with matte wood. Wife said it was too sophisticated looking and that it contrasted with the sporty nature of the M40i. There's always next time... |

How are you guys liking the refinement of the new X3? Does the acoustic glass help a lot? I it whisper quiet?

The acoustic glass does improve things. Not sure about 'whisper quiet' but I must admit I have not heard a single quiet whisper come through it yet.

Acoustic glass
I added the front side window acoustic glass option. Don't know if it made much difference as I haven't driven one with just the standard acoustic screen. But I would say that it is very much quieter than my old F25 which, in fact, wasn't too bad.
It now is a very smooth and very quiet ride. One point on the ride - I was a bit concerned about having the MSport suspension, as I didn't add the adaptive suspension option. Now that I've covered a couple of hundred miles on UK country roads I am absolutely delighted that I didn't get the adaptive - the MSport suspension is just right for me - and my wife thinks it's smooth and comfortable; certainly a lot more comfortable than her little Fiat Gucci 500 with v low profiles ! I did stick with the standard MSport 19 inch 698M wheels, so it probably would be a bit firmer with the 20 inch upgrade. It's been an absolute pleasure to drive. Taking it pretty steady so far, as I still believe in running the engine in for a while, but I'm certainly looking forward to gunning the 3-litre in a few miles time. Enjoy............. |

I don't know how the standard M Sport suspension compares with the F25 MS suspension but with the adaptive suspension in comfort setting and 20" wheels it is very acceptable. Much softer than I feared it might be.

Dash Cam
I took my X3 back to the dealer today to have the BMW dash cam fitted (Car Eye). It should have been fitted prior to getting the X3 but was out of stock. Anyway, after 8 hours they still hadn't managed to install it fully - but the rear camera was in. Apparently the diagrams they had from BMW didn't match the actual wiring routes/conduit so they had major problems feeding the cable from the rear - they had not worked on a G01 before.
Bit of a pain - I needed the car back as I'm driving off for a few days, so told them to stop the install and hand the car back - I'll be taking it back next week to get the job completed. The dealer, Barons of Stortford, are always very helpful - just wish they had taken the current rarity of the G01 into account when they estimated how long it would take. So, be warned - if you want something added to your G01, like the Car Eye, then I would wait a while until they've worked on a few - I currently feel like a bit of a guinea pig. Just hope I don't get any problems or rattles as a consequence this weekend. Fingers crossed......... But it did still feel great to drive on the way home ! |

Please keep us posted for the solution they find. Im also going to wire a dashcam after delivery.
Is there anyone who has placed an order in the Netherlands? I’ve placed my order for a 20i on November 21st. Expected delivery around March 26. |

Just been told my M40i is scheduled for production but factory closes down in 2 days' time and so car won't be done until mid/end January then travel time to UK means early February at the dealer.
