I was at the dealer today and saw the details of the recall. Is about the battery and air con temperature control or something similar. Since the 03/22 version is released and available for us which is fixing the issue, that is why the recall was announced again. Apparently the issue was caused to all cars that were built mid of 2021 until August and had the 07/11 version.

As I understand it, there wasn't an issue with the early iX3s. The issue occurred because of a firmware update which was why all the updates were stopped. The Law of Unintended consequences seems to have come into play.

For those not familiar with BMW EVs, my experience over the past 8 years is that BMW will not offer free firmware upgrades via a dealer unless there is a major issue issue. For example, BMW reduced the regenerative braking on i3s as it was causing the motor bolts to break. Nice-to-have firmware updates are generally left until next servicing date.

I confess that I am still unsure about the firmware updates that BMW intends to deploy OTA.

I just had my car updated to 03/2022.28 this morning (took under an hour at the dealer) due to the 0064170200 recall (which is related to cooling mentioned here earlier).

The service guy didn't know much, work order states "Programming control units (IHKA)" which is "Integrated automatic heating / air conditioning". So far haven't seen any difference in practice.

I've had one only remote update last summer (03/21) - in Jan I went in for the radar recall to the dealer which was an update to 07/21 version.

Thanks a lot.

So this confirms that the 03.2022 DOES NOT bring the pre-conditioning?

thanks

This is really disappointing.

I have complained to BMW Munich about the lack of Pre-Heat capability in the Pre-LCI and they stated that they had no plans to introduce it. I'm really struggling to understand why BMW chose to do this and why a Pre-LCI model manufactured just one week prior to an LCI model does not get the same functionality. BMW and other sources have confirmed that the underlying hardware is exactly the same

My dealer called me today regarding recall 0064170200. He explained it was a software fix for the air conditioning. Booked in for Friday 18th.

My car was in to the dealer yesterday for recall 0064170200. The dealer told me it was related to Air-Con and that the vehicle had been "re-configured". From what I can tell, all that was done was a software update to 03-2022 and I can't see any other changes within the car's settings. So the recall is done but I have also finally had a software update on my car since receiving the car last year with version 03-2021

Mine is being done now. Can anyone confirm whether this resolves the issue with driver profiles not linking to keys?

I didn't have the profile issue before - mainly because my car wouldn't update to 07/2022 software version but I can confirm that I have no profiles issues running 03/2022 so hopefully it fixes your issue.

Out-of-interest, are these updates just a quick handover and wait visit to the dealer?

Mine was just about an hour - waited at a BMW Business Lounge working.

If old pattern remains, remote updates start ~3 months after the update has been first launched. Last year 03/21 update came around June-July.

Odd thing I've noticed after the 03/22, now the current consumption meter (blue bar in the dash) shows 100% when I'm standing still. I'm pretty sure it showed 0% before the update.

I had one that took an hour and the latest took almost 5 hours. The service staff did warn it can be 'random' depending on how long the server in Germany takes to do its thing.

Once that's done the HU reboots and you have the options in the head unit, but don't work yet.

Now head into the BDC, advanced, search for sport, find the three that say sportworldmode0/1/2 go into 1 and select Sport Expert, do similar for Comfort if you want that and set to comfort plus.

I've still not quite got Boost working properly, so steer clear for now, that's just there for me to play with to get working. It should 'overboost' the motor for 8 seconds like the i4 has, but sem to be missing something, and doesn't activate yet. So I'll get that working and post.

If those instructions don't make sense, I'll put something up over the weekend, just spent an hour recoding everything (heated seat temps etc etc) so can't be bothered to set it all up again at the moment, not done Lane change again yet, as lappy was on third floor, and the stuff I wanted/needed could be done on BC.
May sharing how to enable to sport plus mode and if there any difference between the original sport mode?
