Sunroof ambient lighting install

So I've gotten a few PM's and the LED strip has been fine since install, there hasn't been any dark spots or flickers. The lights don't generate heat and the cloth hasn't been damaged. As for longevity don't know it been about 2 months since install, only time will tell.

didn't want to start a new thread, has anyone found a way to make the dash and door lights brighter like the ones I installed on the sunroof? the other lights don't seem to be as crisp.

Hey reviving this a few months later. Has anyone else attempted to install these lights from AliExpress? I am ready to order mine. Any sellers to use?

I actually installed them today super easy just follow the instructions from this thread and I got mine on alibaba. They're brighter then I thought really good quality!

aliexpress is still your best bet, came across other sellers when looking for other stuff for the x3 and had seen them selling the same thing for 150 bucks..crazy.

I went to install these lights the other day and ended up breaking the one side so I'm not installing these anymore. If anyone needs just the one side lmk , just pay for shipping.

Was installing the led strip and it got caught my my shirt and I went to switch from the front seat to the back seat to tuck everything in and ripped the led connection from the actual strip, would have been fine but I ripped the other end off previously by accident too haha( still worked with one end ripped off) . I'm sure it's fixable but I'd rather not spend anymore time tinkering with it. Other than that it would have been a very easy install.

ask the seller to send another one..I think I have an extra harness from another project where it is an extension and you can salvage the clips from it.

Oh I ripped the first side by tryna to tucking it in and then trying to readjust and it got caught somewhere underneath the headliner. Got impatient and yanked it and it ripped haha

I have that extension if you want it with 2 new clips on both ends, just need to find it.

Would have dropped it off since your in NY, but Buffalo is abit far from Queens...lol

So I broke my ambient lights in the car.
I unplugged the driver side under the dash and plugged in the splitter from the sunroof lights to test how it would look and the left side lights did not turn on.
So I unplugged the splitter and plugged back in the oem connector and now the footwell light turns on but no other left side ambient lights turn on.
Help. Lol. Did I blow a fuse?
Its 1 connector so it's not that easy to break something but here we are.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

stupid question but since you have a MY20 you order the kit for 2018 to 2021 and not the 2022 kit?, did the connector fit in fine or did you jam into each other and maybe the contacts are not sitting properly?

Top of the box show what model x3 was checked off for.

I installed the kit on my MJ18 and worked perfectly.
Saw the retrofit here (i'm from Germany) and bought it right after.

At no point does anyone talk about feeding the LED strip between the headliner and plastic trim. Oh well, was easy install, and I didn’t break anything like others did
