Sunroof ambient lighting install

So friend of mine got me this and its not like the x7 sky lounge but it looks nice.
Just finished installing it today.

Piggy backs using the input from the foot well lights. Then ran the wire up through the A pillar and it wedges between the headliner and roof . It color matches to the rest of the ambient lights and controlled from Idrive.

I have to take pics at night to see how it looks.

Update: When you get this kit, on each light strip there are 2 connectors, one on each end, I only used one end of each strip to connect from the light source and left the unused connector towards the rear of the sunroof taped up'ed and tucked towards the rear of the headliner..

Night time shots. Looks great to me...What do you guys think?

for some reason ,camera (samsung s20+) make the lights look faint or super bright in certain spots than it really is. Matches all the interior lighting though.

pics of single line of lights is with the sun shade closed fyi.

Sry didnt take any videos, but its pretty simple. Its plug and play. The hard part was trying to figure out how to remove the sun visor and hand bar to pull down the headliner abit to make room to fish the cable through, but its pretty simple. once you remove the covers on the visor and the handle stick a flat head screwdriver and pinch the 2 silver clips towards each other while pulling down a little to remove them.

Then use a trim tool to make room to fit the cable through.

As far as I know if idrive controls the lights then it should work. Aliexpress listing has the lights for different models.

Also the color White doesn't seem to work for the sunroof lights, but when clicked on dynamic light on IDRIVE, when rear door is open the sunroof light flashes red.

lol...sure NP. Thanks install took me about 2 hrs, most of it was trying to fiqure how to remove certain pieces. but once I figured it out, it was easy. Although miy x3 is a 22'.

FYI there are no instructions...lol

Nice thanks, after reviewing your posts it does seem pretty straight forward. I've ran audio wiring in my cars back in the day so I'll take a stab at it. First BMW which is why I'm always hesitant in removing stuff lol

I know the feeling, this is my first BMW, the f'ing doors to remove the handles to get to the screws to remove it off the door frame when I installed my speakers...I puckered a few times.

The clips are no joke lol had to remove the center speaker grill on the dashboard and add some felt tape because it was rattling.
