Has anyone else had to change the pads with such low mileage?
Can I ask what they charged you for pads?

I'm at 53k miles and I'm still on the original brakes. I'll probably change them at 60k with a less dust producing pad.

I would normally agree with you but the cost on the BMW front m40i pads has sky rocketed and they’re over $320+ a set everywhere online.

$200 bucks or so assuming shop charges $150/hr which is also high

$450 at a dealer is robbery
Sorry but your pricing is way off on the parts

$250ish...that said, most dealer labor rates are $200+/hr. ATE (OEM manufacturer) pads are even cheaper. If DIY there are better and cheaper pad choices with same bite and way less brake dust.

I can't see that being true; I have a 2018, and still have the OE brake pads at 27k miles.

I was coming up on the end of my warranty in May, and asked the service dept to check my brakes, and change them if they are even close to worn. They said I still had 9 mm left. I wasn't sure what the new specs were, and they replied 10-12 mm and change at 4 mm.

Not sure what the average brake life is, but 22k sounds pretty low. Perhaps heavy braking foot or even lightly resting the left foot on the brake pad will contribute to low life.

But neither agrees with the OP's situation (2 years, 22k miles) vs mine or many others.

Brake fluid service is due every 2years. If you have any technical data, feel free to share, but other than the brake wear pad sensor idrive has no idea what your brake pads look like, it's just guessing based on specified mileage or time since last service.
