Chatted with the BMW genius this morning and he told me that X3 and X4 M40i are not available as the UK website is being updated. Seems like you get a different answer depending on who you get genius wise!

Same reason he gave as to why the entire X5 has disappeared from the UK configurator for past two weeks. (Seriously how long does it take BMW to update their site!).

Nope. Deposit contributions on the M40i are £7-9.7k depending depending on dealer.

That is what I heard too - updating site.

Trust me, no worse than Audi who take months!

I think you're missing a zero in your deposit number.
They are doing some amazing deals. Going quick though. I am getting mine at Lloyd Newcastle and while dipping into some negative equity on my 8 month old g31 520d touring I think it's worth it for the discounts being offered.

That sounds better, I did choke on my coffee reading £549 and £449 pm.
I pay just under £500 after £4K deposit and just under £10k discount.

Haha no one like to feel fleeced. Regardless of happens with the MY2020 M40i, you have a fantastic spec that you got at an awesome price.

I’m relieved here too! My deposit was £1000 and my monthlies are £680, but I've got around £150pm worth of optional extras, so virtually identical to these current deals.

Those deals are great! Mine was £5k down £550/ month. I'll keep the car for 3 years and then move on to the next one!

Anyways, thread drift. Let's hope the m40i is discontinued as it will be bode well for our residuals 😊

I was told the same last weekend that they were discontinuing the M40i, I'm not too sorry as got a fantastic deal on a brand new stock one last Tuesday - It's overflowing with extras and I can't wait to take delivery! hopefully at the end of this week.

I expect if discontinued it will be due to emission rules.

What do you mean surprisingly? It's a far superior vehicle ...

LMAO - flame on ;-) . Seriously though, if true that is a serious bummer. Like the post above said though, take "Genius" with a pinch of salt ;-)

BTW I'm sure on another thread I read on here the US had the same issue - M40i removed. However speculation was that the configurator was being re-worked for the new 385bhp version? So perhaps they are talking bollocks? I hope so since it would be a fine vehicle to discontinue after such a short time.

The configurators are changing on each national website I was looking at. Although as an IT guy I don't see a reason to remove some model because of some number changes (figuratively speaking). Doesn't make sense. I can imagine that they stop selling it silently though.

Went into dealership today to place an order and they too insisted that the M40i is no longer available for new factory order. Ended up ordering a fully loaded 20i. A little disappointing, but the car is only going to be used mainly for the school run.

The B58 engine is only a couple of years old and complies with the lates EU emissions spec. The variant in the X3 M40i is also used in the latest Z4, in the M340i and, obviously, the X4 M40i. If you count all variants of the B58, nearly all of the higher powered BMW models use it.

Emissions doesn't sound likely. Especially as it's a petrol engine and governments are busy (rightfully) whacking diesels right now.

Well the 2019 model has just been changed for WTLP rules and fitted with a noise sapping OPF but perhaps in a heavy SUV it's at the edge of emission rules and they know it wont pass future requirements so they are killing it off now. Speculation I know.

It doesn't make any sense to kill off the 40i
Most bmw sectors have a middle performance model, then the hot one
I think it's a little revamp of the model
I hope so,bang for buck
You won't find any better
